Help for my neighbor and her WDW Trip...

Hi everyone, my neighbor has enlisted my help in planning her 1st family WDW trip. She is a family of 5 with herself, DH and 3 young DD's ages 5 and 2 twins age 4. This will be their 1st family trip to WDW and she asked me where I stayed last year and I told her and what hotels are nice and gave her some tips, etc.... I lent her my Birnbaums Official WDW guide book 2005, gave her an extra planning DVD and couple other things.

Just wanted to know what you guys would think the best hotel would be for the 5 of them, room accomodation wise. The only 1 I recommended was the WL : because it has the queen or king bed with the 2 bunk beds. What else do you guys suggest and do you think the 3 girls would be ok in the 2 bunk beds, I suggested maybe a cot as well?
Also I told her the best time to go is when Iam going, LOL 1st week of November! :

How about interconnecting room at PC or all stars? They work out a little cheaper than WL or AKL with the bunks and then you get 4 beds! We did this last summer. We just locked the door that our girls we in and left the interconnecting door open.

The first time we went to WDW our 3 youngest ones were 5, 3 & 3. We stayed at POR in the Alligator Bayou Section. They have 2 double beds and an optional Trundle bed. We loved it. I would highly recommend POR.

I agree with gcbdad. POR is a great compromise between quality and price. We really liked POR.

Aren't there only a few on-site that will accomodiate 5 in a room? My friends with 5 stayed at POR but the POP idea is good also, especially for her age of kids.

Re: Help for my neighbor and her WDW Trip...

I agree on POR if they need a less-expensive alternative to WL! Wow... your neighbor's trip is going to be both fun and BUSY! They will also get fantastic photos... the kids are perfect ages for great pics!
Ae you having a blast, helping her with plans?

Re: Help for my neighbor and her WDW Trip...

We're a family of 5 with 3 DD's (ages 15 and 10 yr old twins) so the resort question is one we deal with every year. WL will not accommodate 5 unless you pay a fortune for a jr suite. Your cheapest option (and the one we go with) is a trundle room in the bayou at POR. They don't even charge the $15/nt extra for the trundle any more. It works for us but some might find it too cramped. The 2 rooms at a value resort option is about the same cost and gives you a lot more space. I've never stayed at a value so I don't know what they're like. Fort Wilderness Cabins are over 500 s.f. and sleep 6. We've never tried those either but most seem to love them. Of course there's always the Deluxe resorts which sleep 5 with a daybed (still only one bathroom, though). We did the GF in 2003 when they had the 7 for 4 night deals going on and it was our best Disney experience ever but not one we could ever afford again. Hope that helps.

Re: Help for my neighbor and her WDW Trip...

The more I read about it here, the more I think that getting 2 rooms at a Value resort is a great idea. Not only do you get 2 bathrooms, but 2 tv's, 4 beds and maybe a little privacy for mom & dad. And her kids are at the age when the "over-the-top" themeing of the values can really be appreciated. I'd go for ASMovies. Are you also giving her some help with park planning and restaurants - character breakfasts, dinner shows, etc?

I lent her some stuff to look over.

Re: Help for my neighbor and her WDW Trip...

tell her about port orleans riverside. you can have 5 family in 1 room. they have aroll away cot that easily acomodates a child as old as 11 or 12 for no extra charge, last time we went in 2003. the room is cheaper than 2 value rooms and there are 2 sinks. the pool is fabulous and the food court is great too. we went in 2003 with my parents, myself, husband and 9 year old daughter. the kids would enjoy the ducks around the mill pond.
