Pc To Por Switch?
OK, here's the dealio -- We have our May ressies for six nites at PC, switching to the last four nites at Poly. This weekend, my DD and DS were talking to each other (I eavesdropped) about how much they have wanted to stay at POR (we have "visited" there and eaten at Boatwright's a couple time, but never stayed at the resort). I contacted Mousketrips and found out that possibly (with some anticiapated discounts) we could switch from PC to POR for about the same price that we're currently paying (pre-discount) for our PC stay (get all that?) At worst, I'm guessing it would probably be about a $30 a nite increase. I just got a surprise bonus at work that will more than pay for the increase, as well as for much of our meals on the trip, so I was thinking of switching to POR as a surprise for the family (you know me - always wanting to make a production).
Any ideers from my DC family? Thanks!

Well, this is not what you asked but what about keeping PC and switching the Poly nights to POR. I'm not a delux person so that might be blasphemous to even sugguest such a thing.
 I have only stayed a PC and we loved it. How old are your kids? In answer to your original question I think a surprise might be nice. I would actually love to stay at POR my next trip over any other choice at this point. Good luck with whatever you decide.

What a nice surpirse for your family. The switching is a snap between the resorts so no worries there. Don't count on your luggage before 3pm when checkng into the polynesian however. You will have to let me know what you think of POR. I can't wait to hear how the surpise goes over too.

Go for the change!!! I LOVE the idea of surprising your kids, and they will have no idea. It will be such a suprise when you pull up to the POR gates, instead of the PC gates. Go for it!!!!

I say do it! See what kind of deal you can get.. we switched from PC to POR and it actually didn't cost us anything more. I hope this works out for you - think how suprised and excited your kids will be when they see where they're staying!! :)

Thanks! I think I'll probably make the switch! (As to the DCer who suggested switching Poly to POR -- hmm, let's see...how do I put this? NO WAY. We have dreamed of staying at the Poly for at least 20 years! But thanks for the suggestion, anyway.

I'm gonna do it! I love doing the surprising. Now, I have to come up with a plan. Right now, I'm thinking about dropping off DD and her college roomie (she'll be with us 1st day) at DTD or somewhere, while I go look for a local US Bank branch (diversion). But really, I'll go check in at POR. Later, I'll meet up with them at DTD and suggest we go check out PC. We'll take a "wrong turn" and be driving in the direction of POR. I'll say, "Let's check it out." But I'll drive in, pull up to our room and suggest walking around. (This is getting fun...)
When we get to our room, I'll suggest in fun about seeing if my "old" WDW room card from three years ago fits in the door. In reality, I'll put my new one in the door, unlock it and walk in.... (In the words of Flounder in "Animal House": "This is gonna be great.") Whatya think?
