I'm curious! Has anyone tried to rent DVC Points and had a bad experience? I would like to rent DVC points for BWV for my May trip. I'm extremely nervous about it though. I wouldn't have to send her any money until she sent me my confirmation, but the ressie remains under control of the DVC owner. What is there to prevent someone from cancelling the ressie after they get the money? From what I've read, alot of peoiple do it without problem. I know trust must be involved on the side of both parties. The lady I PM'd seems to be a long standing DVC owner and member of the DisBoard, but I've read several posts over there where the rentee has only a few posts. Again anyone have any bad experience renting DVC points?

I have a friend who rented DVC points on the DIS and had a small problem that the renter wouldn't take care. In total I think she lost about $100 on the deal and the renter wouldn't answer emails to work to resolve the problem. I think most renters are honest but I am sure there are a few who are not.

I rented points for the Boardwalk Villas this past December. I had a good experience. The usual rate is $10 a point and pay half up front and half 45 days prior. The reason to pay the rest 45 days prior is because the owner cannot cancel the ressie within 30 days of the date. I also got mine off the disboards and the number of people who have problems is very small. Ask for a reference or two if you are leary.
