I am probably not a good person to answer, because there is no way you could convince me to stay off property. However, have you considered downgrading to a really nice mod. (like POFQ or POR) and getting adjoining rooms which would be about the same price and you would still have all the Disney magic with the adult privacy and an extra bathroom. You could also check on special rates during this time (check with Mouseketrips because Mickey is excellent with getting rock bottom room rates) because then it would be even better for you.

How about one of the villas in the "Home away from home series". Our second week at WDW we stayed at OKW. What a resort, we had so much fun. There are so many activities for the kids, as well as adults. A must look into.

You could even check into the onsite in room babysitting services. Many people have raved about them. This would give you a few hours to go do something romantic by yourselves.

Re: thought we had decided but....want privacy..

i would def. get two adjoining rooms at a mod, or even value even if my husband didnt want alone time--much more room, privacy....id look into it...unless of course your kids are toooooooooooo young to sleep in an adjoining room alone

Try a Junior Suite at the WL. It's also called a Deluxe room. It has a living room area with a sleeper sofa that's separated from the main bedroom by a set of french doors. It's more expensive than the standard rooms, but not as much as a suite. It's a great compromise and affords you a little separation from the kids.

I have no qualms about staying off-site. I too enjoy the privacy and space of other accomodations. We like to rent villas when we bring all the kids. We still enjoy the parks and all that entails, while scooting quickly back and forth to the villa for a respite from the crowds.

I feel funny posting this - as a member of DVC and avid lover of OKW - but if you're looking into off-site accomodations, we joined some friends at an off-site villa this year - the Marriott Grande Vista - and I have to admit it was absolutely gorgeous. And only about 15 minutes from WDW.

Llama's right. In my 4 trips to WDW, 3 of those were at off-site hotels. While I loved staying on-sight, I've never had a bad experience off-site, and in most cases it was only a 15 minute drive to the parks--no different than riding a WDW bus. Yes, you lose some perks staying off-site, but there can be some gains from it (bigger rooms for less, cheaper food at non-Disney restaraunts, indoor pools, etc.)

Re: thought we had decided but....want privacy..

WElcome to DC!

I can totally understand wanting a bit of privacy. When I brought along my DBF and his DS on our last trip, I definately wanted some. We got adjoining rooms and it worked out perfectly. The kids had their own area and we had a door that locked You could get two at PC for about as much as one room at the WL. If you are looking for a bit more than PC, try getting two rooms at the POFQ. Everything is supposeto be very close to things there and it may work out out well for you. I personally wouldn't want to stay offsite. I would feel left out of the magic.
