Annual Passes

We are thinking about getting an annual pass to take advantage of discounts. What is going on with that?
I know I read once that they were thinking of doing a flat AP discount rate for the year, then I read they weren't doing them at all.
Can anyone clear up my confusion?

I think any and all discounts are up in the air right now I wish I had additional info to provide but I don't.

Re: Annual Passes

Discounts are never, ever guaranteed. If you're thinking of buying an AP, make sure it's worth it for your situation even without having an AP hotel discount.

Many folks are saying that because of the huge response to the MYW packages, discounts will be few and far between this year.

Here's hoping though -- I love those discounts! ;)

Re: Annual Passes

I am in the same boat as you. Waiting!!!! I'm not gonna buy my AP unless discounts for my travel dates are released. I wasn't planning on buying them much before our trip anyway, because I want to use them towards the end of next year too. If I buy them too early they'll expire.

Re: Annual Passes

i'm in the same boat also--i am planning to go again in may and i will probaly buy AP's if discount codes come out since we only live a few (6) hours away...but if they dont come out the MYW package is a pretty good deal by itself...
btw i believe mickey said on another thread that the whole myw/HCOE thing wasn't drawling that many people so they may be giving discounts soon

Re: Annual Passes

I think a AP pays for itself, especially if your stay at DW is 8 or more days. Even if one person in your family buys one, it's worth the price.
We have had our AP's for quite a few years now, and we have always got the discounts on our rooms. Just waiting patiently for discounts to go into May. I also was told by a CM yesterday, they should be coming out soon. JOANN

Re: Annual Passes

Even if you don't get the discount, if you take a long trip every year it is worth it. You can get 2 long trips out of your AP by going a week earlier the next year. I hope you know what I mean. Like, last year we went Aug 15-21 and this year we are going Aug. 5-14 on the same AP.

Re: Annual Passes

Wait and see if there are discounts and then get the AP's. Honestly, they are a great deal if you think about it. I am getting 14 days with park hopping on one AP...plus discounts on rooms, plus discounts on some merchandise and food. Mine has already paid for itself.

Re: Annual Passes

I honestly can't wait. I think if we did get an AP we would probably go down more often. My DH loves it (almost) as much as I do. I get some pretty serious withdrawal waiting a year between visits!!

Re: Annual Passes

Last year the AP discount was released on March 9 and so were room only discounts. However in 2003,room only were released on March 14 and AP were not released (spring -summer) until April 21. Soooo who knows . I will say that when I spoke to Disney the other day, the CM told me to watch my email. This made me think that the discounts may be released within the next few weeks.Jpeltier
