Anyone switching from MYW to AP ?

Just wondering if anyone is changing a MYW package to an AP to get the discount.
Is it worth it to even bother?

Thanks!!

I am so confused I thought I'd post the question so I won't have to try and figure it out myself

Re: Anyone switching from MYW to AP ?

I just switched this morning from a MYW plan with dining to a AP plan. Instead of staying at the POFQ, I am going to be at the Wilderness Lodge. I figured I was getting a better hotel rate, my sister and I don't eat enough to justify getting the dining plan, and I am going to be coming back to WDW so it was better to get the AP. I am really excited about staying at the WL!

Re: Anyone switching from MYW to AP ?

I usually do AP rate because I go to WDW at least once a year and it makes sense to use the AP for both trips. Crunching the numbers, I'll save at least $400 by using the AP for both trips instead of getting an MYW package for both trips -- and that's without AP discounts! If discounts do come out for both trips, I'll save at least $1000.

I'm still confused. I really haven't turned to the Magic Your Way ticket format yet. As a Florida Resident it isn't really a better deal than we used to get.

Re: Anyone switching from MYW to AP ?

I was also wondering if it would be worth it to switch from MYW to AP, but I don't know much about the AP's. Can only 1 AP be bought and the rest of the family get MYW tickets? I think the 20 percent discount on food would be better for my family than the MYW dining plan. Can anyone give me some info on the AP's? Can an AP discount be credited to an exsisting reservation?

Mickey had told me through mouseketrips that everyone needs to be on the same plan.....but he was commenting on the number of days that we were staying. But from the way it sounded..........we all needed to be on the same plan.

Re: Anyone switching from MYW to AP ?

so the entire family would need AP's? My parents just moved to Fla so it may be something to think about!

This is all so very confusing. I don't believe that everyone would need to have an AP. My understanding is that with one AP you can book several rooms at the discount.
So one person in your party could have an AP and the rest could have whatever type of park tickets they wanted, BUT then you wouldn't be able to do the "dining plan" because everyone staying in the same resort room has to be on the same plan.
Hope I made some sense......

Re: Anyone switching from MYW to AP ?

Yeah that makes sense. I'm not that keen on the dining plan anyway because my dd is being charged as an adult yet she is young enough for the kids menu! A straight discount would be better.
