Animal Kingdom! - Suggested Touring Plan?
Does anyone have a suggested touring plan for the AK? I will be going for the day only. I will have my three children with me. I would like to be there from park opening to park close. But, I'm not sure if the baby is going to be down with that, LOL! (She's almost a year old, now - and pretty flexible with her schedule, so we'll just have to see!)
I might bring a friend so we can do the baby swap, but for now it looks like it will just be me and my children.

My children would LOVE that! They love animals!
They don't even know we're going. I'm just gonna tell them to get dressed next Thursday, and we are gonna head out. When they ask where we're going, I'm gonna say we're going out for breakfast (which will be true!) They will be so surprised when we grab breakfast at the AK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Safari first, the Tree of Life next, Kali River Rapids (I don't know if you can take the baby though) the Dino dig is great fun for little ones and just going on the trails and looking at all the exhibits. I love the bats exhibit, don't ask me why it is fascinating.

Re: Animal Kingdom! - Suggested Touring Plan?
I would suggest starting in Africa. Do the safari and Jungle trek, enjoy the village, grab a early lunch then head over to Asia. After Asia hit the Tree of Life.
I don't know what your kid would like to do more but I would suggest go to camp minnie mickey for pictures then the go see the lion king. If the kids need some down time there are lots of shady bench area that are just off the main paths. Sit down and watch the water and stuff. The parade last time I checked runs twice a day. The best place to see it is in Africa because you can catch it twice (on the way out and the way back). But really there isn't a bad spot to see it (well as long as you are on the route). That is a start for you...

Re: Animal Kingdom! - Suggested Touring Plan?
Thanks for the advice, Tigger! That's exactly what I was looking for!
I don't think I'll be doing Kali River Rapids. I wish I could! Unless I have a friend go with me to do the baby swap, I'll be leaving that one out. The rest should be ok, though - right? If I can talk my friend into going, she will do the babyswap with me, and we'll be good!

Re: Animal Kingdom! - Suggested Touring Plan?
Definitely do the safari first. It'll be nice and cool first thing in the morning and you'll be more likely to see more animals. Don't worry about missing Kali - yeah it's fun, but you'll get absolutely soaked, and who wants to walk around Disney in cold wet clothes?
![]() If your kids like seeing animals, definitely walk through the 2 paths. There's a lot to see. The monkeys are my favorite. They always sit in weird positions. ![]()

Erin, AK is a lot of walking so bring some snacks and take advantage of park's benches that are off the "beaten" path with great view.

Re: Animal Kingdom! - Suggested Touring Plan?
Here is my suggestions on Kail (or any other water ride):
Kali has a center section to store your stuff (and keep it dry). Bring a plastic grocery bag and put your sock and shoes in it...if you want put sandals on (I personally hate sandals, personal). Bring a poncho to wear. You can buy them before you get on. Wear quick dry clothing. This is great for hot days because this material light weight and breaths well. (you can get these cheapest at wal-mart in the sportwear section) Bring a towel in your backpack. Plan on walking around in the sun for a 20 or 30 minutes to dry off. If you don't like getting wet don't go.

Re: Animal Kingdom! - Suggested Touring Plan?
We had always taken our shoes off and put in the center compartment on Kali, but last time I rode it they said we had to keep our shoes on.

Re: Animal Kingdom! - Suggested Touring Plan?
Things not to miss:
Kilimanjaro Safari Festival of the Lion King Pochahontas & her Forest Friends (caution - there's a rat. My kids thought he was cute. Ugh!) Pangani Forest Exploration Trail - the gorillas are very cool Maharaja Jungle Trek - the tigers are magnificent At your discretion: It's Tough to be a Bug (you know your kids best - this terrifies at lot of children. Dinosaur - I'm assuming they're just too young for this anyway Kali River Rapids - obviously lots of opinions. Use your best judgment If you have time: Flights of Wonder (its a bird show, but a good bird show) The Boneyard (playground) TriceraTop Spin - a prehistoric Dumbo Primeval Whirl - they may be too young Rafiki's Planet Watch If you have the Unofficial Guide - read the AK section thoroughly.
