POR Rooms

Can anyone give some insight to which rooms are better at POR. I have stayed in the mansion house rooms before but I guess there is another section of rooms called Alligator Bayou. I would love to hear any suggestions.
We would like to be close to the lobby area, because it seems we are always there for one reason or another.

Re: POR Rooms

I have not stayed there but I have had many clients that did and here is some of the feedback I have gotten:

Bldg 16 is extremely peaceful. The grounds are very lush. It was a quick walk to the main bldg and main bus stop. Alligator Bayou, building 38, another great choice. If you can get bldgs 14, 15 or 18 you can cut thru the pkg lot and its pretty close to the main bus stop that way and of course the main bldg.

Kids love the main pool with the slide. The food was okay and never had a problem with waiting long on busses. Most people don't like sharing a bus with F.Q. especially they got picked up first and dropped off first.

Hope this helps a bit!!

Re: POR Rooms

We stayed in bldg 14 and it was perfect! Close to the main bldg., close to the main pool, close to the bus stop!! We loved this hotel and the location of bldg 14! It also has parking right in front of bldg 14 if you have a car!

Re: POR Rooms

In our opinion, we like the Magnolia Bend section better. If you stay in Building 90 or 95 you are just across the river from the main building. If you try the Alligator Bayou try building 14 or 15. They are the closet to the main building and the bus stop. The rooms are the same except the AB section is more rustic. Ou can also get a trundle bed in some of the AB rooms.

Re: POR Rooms

We chose to stay in Alligator Bayou and requested building 14 (the closest to the bus stop and lobby). We loved the room (and the Song of the South shower curtain!), and looked forward to coming back to that cosy feeling of a log cabin every night. My one complaint is that because it's so close to the lobby, there's quite a bit of through traffic around building 14 at all times.

Re: POR Rooms

We stayed in building 28 which was located in the midst of what felt like a park. No traffic around it but the hike to the lobby was long. Although, we looked at it as excercise. We loved being out there.

Re: POR Rooms

OK....my reservation says standard view but can you request a certain room? Should I do it when I get there or call? If I need to call, can anyone give me an email or phone number for POFQ? It seems when I stayed at CSR I requested a certain building and we got it but I just don't remember.

Re: POR Rooms

I think a standard view room might overlook a parking lot? I would make sure, depending on how much time you'll spend in your room, to get an 'interior view' room, if there is such a thing, overlooking the walking paths with all the squirrels and bunnies hopping around. Too cute.

There are lots of standard rooms with great views at POFQ. I'd suggest calling Disney reservations and asking the agent to add onto your reservation a request for "no parking lot view" or "courtyard view" or something like that. Requesting particular room numbers usually doesn't work (and drives the hotel folks crazy!). And now Disney is asking folks not to fax requests anymore.

But you can always call four days out (your reservation isn't in the hotel computer until about 5 days out) and explain directly to the CM at the hotel that you'd like a room that faces in on the resort and not out to a parking lot or wooded area. They're usually receptive to that.

Port Orleans is located at 2201 Orleans Dr. Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-1000. The phone number is 1-407-934-5000. The fax number is 1-407-934-5353 (taken from allearsnet.com)
