I'm with dznygrl. I never thought I would tell someone to book the Contemp, but thats what I am recomending you do.

Honestly, the Contemp is a good resort, it just doesn't have the same theming that comes from some of the other resorts.

Re: Is the Poly-Gardenview worth $89 more a night then Contemporary-Standard Wing room

We stayed at the Contemporary last Oct.
The negatives - The resort is very plain. I don't like the decor at all. The colors in the rooms are mismatched and clash with each other. The hallway had a musty smell when we were there. It is very outdated. They need to freshen the entire place up. .

The positives - The monorail! You are the first to get on it. Then it goes to the ticket center (I think that's what it is called), then the Poly, GF, then MK. When you head back to the resort, you are the first stop. It is so convenient. We saved a lot of time just hopping on it instead of waiting for buses. As far as the buses go, you get picked up before the Poly, so you always have a seat. Also, the lake front is very nice. We rented the boats and had a wonderful time. The pool is nice and has a water slide. There is a laundry room on every floor. Chef Mickey's is right there. The arcade is huge.

Disneyfever,

Thanks. No matter where you stay, you end up having to take the bad with the good. So the Contemporary isn't new and the decor might be a little old. However I will take that and the monorail service especially over a holiday, then stay someplace else and try to fight the crowds and get on a bus.

Magic, I agree. And the decor isn't too bad. It's just that if you compare it to the other deluxe resorts, it seems very plain. We had a great time staying there. The room was very large. The monorail going through the hotel was very cool. It will save you so much time. Especially at the end of the day, when everyone else is waiting in long lines for the buses! We stayed in one of the wing rooms (not one in the main tower). However, we made the mistake of not asking for the wing that was closest to the MK. We got the one on the other side of the tower, so it was a long walk to everything.

Disneyfever,

The end of the day thing and no buses is what I like the most. Just get on the monorail and 5 minutes later, you are home. Plus, there is no need to carry a ton of stuff with either since it is only a short monorail ride back to CR.

This is also going to work great with the extra magic hours at both MK and Epcot. When I was there last week, I wanted to take advantage of them, but never did because the buses where always so full.
