Is the Poly-Gardenview worth $89 more a night then Contemporary-Standard Wing room

Hi,

Well I got back on Monday from my wonderful 10 night stay at CBR and had a wonderful time. Anyways, found out late last night about the AP rates comming out for my May 26-May 30 stay and decided to go for the Contemporary-Standard Wing room for $194 a night including tax. It has been brought to my attention that I could move over to a gardenview room at the Poly for $89 a night more. Is Poly really worth $89 a night more than the Contemporary.

contemporary is a little....tacky.....i have never stayed there......but......ive seen pictures and been in the resort several times.....and the poly is gorgeous
however--89 dollars is 89 dollars....and staying on the monorail is worth it
and if your not planning to stay in your room more than to sleep and chill out...then id book contemp

cinderbella,

That's what I did, but called this evening and found out that Poly Gardenview was available as well. So is a tower view at Contemporary but for $118 more a night.

mk05, I'm going to say something I never thought I'd say here...

Go for the Contemporary.

(This is tough, coming from the ultimate Poly-lover)...

But I can't justify an extra $89 a night just for the Poly. It's wonderful, but there is not enough difference in the rooms or the amenities...one of my fave things about the Poly is eating at 'Ohana, and you can always do that by just hopping on the monorail.

It's probably freaking me out to think about an extra $89/night since that's the full rate I paid when I stayed at the Poly......long story, best bargain ever scored at Disney...but honestly, I think an extra $90/night is too much. If it was lagoon view, MAYBE...

I am not slightly in love with the idea of staying at the contemporary, but I wouldn't spend $89 more a night for the Polynesian. I just stayed there in January and liked it well enough, but can't say that's it's worth the huge price tag. I enjoyed the AKL much more and it was half the price. Honeslty, if I were in your situation, I would save the money and go to WL or AKL. What those resorts lack in room size is more than made up for in theme and decore. I can honestly say that those two resorts are worth every penny you pay. The Contemporary rarely gets decent reviews and the Polyneisan, gorgeous as it is, is not worth the price.

Thanks for your feedback. Since It will only be a 4 night trip, I really like the idea of staying at a monorail resort. When I stayed at CBR last week, I was rarely in my room at CBR, unless the parks were closed, so this is more or less a crashing pad for the evenings. I love the idea that I can just walk from MK back to my resort.

Sounds great mk05...if it's only a 4-night trip, I can definitely see staying at a monorail resort. I think Contemp is gonna be best for that quick access to/from the MK! For sure...

Re: Is the Poly-Gardenview worth $89 more a night then Contemporary-Standard Wing room

We stayed in the Garden wing a couple of trips ago and liked it OK for the price we got at the time. ($89/night through Shades of Green) Being on the Monorail line is a big plus, and so is being able to walk to the Magic Kingdom.

Not sure I would pay the regular price to stay there, but the couple of trips since then I have found myself looking at it fondly. I would consider staying there again if the price was right.

Thanks again. I figure that $194 a night really isn't that bad when you add in the monorail factor at Contemporary and how it is only a small stroll away from MK. Plus this is over Memorial Day weekend, and who wants to wait inline for a bus back to a resort for hours.

Call me quirky, but I've always had a yen to stay at the Contemporary. Mainly, because it gets so many negative reviews. I do know that the rooms are suppose to be some of the largest at WDW. You have easy access to MK by both walking and monorail, and two of the most popular restaurants in WDW, Chef Mickey's and California Grill are there. You can see MK's "Wishes" and the Electrical Water Parade, from the hotel. I'd take the chance and stay at the Contemporary.

Llama....that is so me!!
I hate the way it looks, but it is so close to MK. I want to stay there at least once.

We stayed at the Poly last year....it is not worth the money, IMO.

Re: Is the Poly-Gardenview worth $89 more a night then Contemporary-Standard Wing room

We stayed the the CR resort ( garden wing ) in Dec 04 and Poly garden view Feb 05.

We stayed just for the monorail. The only thing better about the Poly is the Pool and you can walk to TTC.

The view at the Poly was nicer than the garden wing at the CR.

Besides that I think they are about the same. I do not know if I would spend the extra 89.00. I would stay at the CR.

I feel the same way. I am desperately trying to talk my boys into it. But, to no avail. I just would like to try it once. I want to stay in the main building though. Right on the monorail. I want to feel it as it zooms through the building!!

I would love to stay in a tower room but at $312.25 a night compared to $194 for the standard gardenview I got, ($118.25 a night more), I really can't see paying that price.
