Poly Room Questions

We have ressies this May 20-24 at Poly. It's our first time there and I saw on another WDW-related website (gasp!) that some non-smoking rooms have a problems with smoke smell, since they are located above smoking rooms. Any suggestions?

Also, is there a specific location we should request? (We have standard-view.) First floor or not?

Thaaaaaaaaaanks!

Re: Poly Room Questions

The Polynesian has smoking optional buildings. Meaning that it's not specifically smoking or nonsmoking. Not all the building are like this, but a few of them are. I would talk with CRO or call the Polynesian itself and aske them which building are specifically nonsmoking buildings. That's your best best.

Re: Poly Room Questions

phayes, do you have ressies for a garden view or lagoon view room?

We had a garden view room on the 2nd floor of the Samoa building (facing the Quiet Pool). It was an EXCELLENT location. The room smelled clean...no smoky smell...the building was about as close as you can possibly get to the Great Ceremonial House, and we were smack dab between the 2 pools. Our room didn't have a balcony, but that was the only downside. If you were able to get a room facing the Volcano Pool (I think you have to pay extra for that, not sure??) you would have a balcony or patio.

We were in Samoa also,3rd floor volcano side. It was great and it didn't cost any more $ then the other garden views. I am hoping to convince DH that is where we will be next fall.

That's good to know bumble!! I almost wish we would have thought to ask to be on the Volcano Pool side. But that's okay......that room facing the Quiet Pool was awesome. I will have to remember to ask to face the Volcano Pool if (WHEN) I'm lucky enough to go back to the Poly in the future! Haha. Trying to remain positive...

Re: Poly Room Questions

Tokelau and Tahiti are both non-smoking buildings and are located near the quiet pool and close to the TTC. Absolutely wonderful!!!!!

We really enjoyed Tahiti. Third floor garden view room. No smoking anywhere around there, great location with a short walk to the TTC and the direct monorail to the MK and EPCOT.

Thanks for this info mickey! We are staying at the Polynesian this summer, and now I know the area to ask for, as I'd like to be as close as possible to the monorail station! Did you have a good view of the Magic Kingdom from your room?

Re: Poly Room Questions

I think that if you want a view of the MK, those rooms are water view.

Re: Poly Room Questions

There are two views at the Polynesian: water view and garden view. If it faces the lagoon, it's water view. Everything else is garden view, and that includes views of the pools and marina. I would vote for a room in Samoa or Fiji. We had a room in Fiji, the side not facing the marina, 3rd floor, room right at the end. Had a partial lagoon view with the wedding pavilion (and contruction on Tuvalu! >_<). This would have been a nice room had all that contruction not been going on. As far as I know, here is the smoking layout of the resort:

No Smoking: Aotearoa, Fiji, Tuvalu (1st and 2nd floor only, 3rd floor optional), Rarotonga, Samoa, Tokelau, Rapa Nui, Tahiti. Not sure about Hawaii concierge.

Smoking: Nuie.

Aotearoa, Tuvalu, Fiji, Rarotonga, Nuie, Samoa, and Hawaii do not have second floor balconies.

Nuie does not have an elevator. Rapa Nui has some rooms with roll-in showers.

Fiji, Samoa, and Aotearoa are all very close to the Great Ceremonial House. Tahiti is the farthest, but closest to the Transportation and Ticket Center.
