Beach Club Opinions
I need to decide where we're going to stay in August and I need some help! We are considering the Beach Club if the AP discount is about the same as the current one but since we usually stay at Port Orleans Riverside I'd like some feedback about the pros and cons of the BC. We are a family of 5 (me, DH and 3 DD's ages 15, 10 and 10). We enjoy sharing one room and are not considering two rooms at a value for this trip. Last year we spent 6 nights in a trundle room at POR so we'd like to go for a Deluxe this year if the discount is good. Any opinions you have (good or bad) would really help me make up my mind once and for all!! Thanks.

Re: Beach Club Opinions
The Beach Club is awesome! The location, the pool and the dining options can't be beat.
I would stay there every trip if I could afford the rate.

Re: Beach Club Opinions
We stayed at BCV last summer and really liked it. The pool is awesome! I could spend a whole vacation relaxing by that pool, it was so nice. The location is great, you can walk to Epoct in less than 10 minutes and if you don't feel like walking the launch service to Epcot and MGM is very good.

Re: Beach Club Opinions
Thanks again for the quick answers. I'm thinking that a 15-20 minute walk might be OK in the morning, but I think I'll take the boat back in the afternoon! Another question for anyone out there who has been recently - is Stormalong Bay being renovated and if so, will it be done by August?

Re: Beach Club Opinions
The BC is a beautiful resort. We stayed there a year ago in the BC Villas. Stormalong Bay is the best pool at WDW (almost like a mini waterpark). The CapeMay Buffet is very good. It's especially nice if Epcot is your favourite park. You can easily walk. The entertainment and restaurants of the Boardwalk, just across the lake, are also an easy walk away. The boat to MGM is reasonably efficient. The resort itself is very relaxed and laid-back. I'd definitely stay there again.

Re: Beach Club Opinions
I'll add to everything above that the proximity to the Boardwalk is nice too - there are some great restaurants there, and renting the Surreys (4 wheeled bikes) was a neat thing to do.
The proximity to Epcot and MGM is great...bus service to the other parks is pretty decent. All in all, a great home-base.

Re: Beach Club Opinions
The Stormalong Bay rehab should be finished either this month, or in April. I know it will be done by the time we get there in May.

Re: Beach Club Opinions
Many thanks to everyone for your posts. I haven't heard one negative thing about the BC so I think that it might be a great choice for us if the AP discounts are good. Thanks again!!

Re: Beach Club Opinions
As you can see by the resort list in my signature we are huge fans of the EPCOT resorts. Y&BC are our favorites because of Stormalong Bay, but any of the 5 will do in a pinch.
We have been trying out the other resorts the last few trips but I think the next visit we will try out the BCV for something a little different. Enjoy, Harry

Re: Beach Club Opinions
i love the beach club. the decor, the atmosphere, the location. you can't get any better than Beach club. it's just a hop skip and a jump away from epcot, and it's a 10 minute boat ride to MGM. there's great food; cape may cafe (buffet style), yactsman steak house, and beaches and cream. hmmmm, yum. the pool is huge. it has sand at the bottom and there's a pirate ship slide. really cool. it's also right across the lake from the boardwalk. you have great food and entertainment there too.

I've never stayed there personally, but my family has MANY times and it is their absolute favorite.

Re: Beach Club Opinions
We stay at the Yacht or Beach Club everytime. Love the pool. Generally, we try for the Yacht Club because it is a little easier to do the walk to and from MGM (I hate the fuel smell on the boats). We are a family of 5 and fit fine in one of these rooms. There is usually a day bed for the fifth person. Don't know about August, however. We've tried two trips in August and had a lot of rain both times. They pull everyone out of the pool when that happens.
