I've been there "around" the time of the golf tournament, and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Epcot's Food & Wine Festival are much more to blame for any crowds than is the golf tourney. Overall, though, the crowds are medium-sized and manageable all through October.

We have been there in October more than once. We love October in WDW, it is a great time to visit. The Golf only seems to effect the crowds if you want to golf. We found it to have no effect on the parks.
