Room Rate Discounts????

When do the WDW room rates go on sale? OK...let me clarify. DH said that the rooms go on sale at cheaper rates usually in October-is this true-about $55 per night for a value?

Yep, they are cheeper with an AP or Florida resident discount. During value season we got a room at PC last Dec for $50.

Occasionally, rooms will be discounted with either an Annual Passholder discount, a Florida annual passholder discount, or a general public discount. These are not guaranteed, however. Last October, Disney greatly reduced room rates during the fall, but that doesn't mean it will happen again. See mousesavers.com for historical discounts in past years (type "historical + discount into the search engine on the site). Good luck!

BUZZY!!!! Where ya been? It's been a while!

Our administrator, Mickey, has posted in a few other threads that room discounts MAY be a thing of the past. WDW room bookings are finally back to pre-9-11 levels and growing. While I hope value season will still have discount codes, I haven't noted any codes yet this year (Though I admit I haven't been looking as hard as when I'm planning a trip.).

The discounts come out really late. For instance,April17th-July 4th discounts for this year only came out March 9th,so the best thing to do is to make your reservation now and apply the discounts when they come out.

I am thinking about going mid-December before the rush hits. I have an AP and am also a member of AAA. If I booked a room through AAA, then discount codes came out, would I be able to switch my reservation to that? Or should I book two reservations and cancel one if the codes don't come out? I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Yes, you can do that. A AAA discount can only be had on a room only reservation, and once an AP discount comes out, you can get that applied to your current reservation. You can get the AAA discount on the room through any travel agency, or directly through Disney.
