Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had done two different destinations, one being WDW and another something else on the same trip. I was figuring that since I was going to be in the Florida area so much at the end of December and first couple weeks in January, that I might split my time between WDW and maybe some place like Cancun. I would obviously do Cancun first and then fly back to Orlando and stay 4 or 5 nights at WDW. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time in Febuary and will be going again for 5 nights in January 2006. I am just looking at all my options to see what I could do. Also, splitting my stay between the two, will cost just about the same as it would if I stayed the whole time at either one of these, so the cost really isn't a factor.

Re: Has anyone done another vacation place and then done WDW during the same vacation
We've divided out vacation between WDW and a cruise, three times. It's great to have really fun active days at WDW and then relax on the cruise.

The west coast of Florida has some really great beaches. maybe you could just rent at car and head over there for a few days.

We have gone to WDW and then headed to the beach for a few days of rest before going home. I liked that because we could go home rested, WDW is a lot of work.
We have never done two very different vacations back to back, we usually go home in between trips if we have two different vacations planned. I have never thought about it but you way would save a little money book airfare.

BDavis932,
That is another option. I really haven't made my mind up yet and am still waiting to see what everything will cost to do this. I have a estimated idea, but want to see the possible final cost before I do anything.

DisneyTeacher,
The flights are what is giving me the most trouble. If I just went from Chicago to Cancun, I would go Chicago-Fort Lauderdale-Cancun and then reverse on the way home. If I did the split stay, I would have to do RT Chicago-Orlando, get transportation from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale and then RT Fort Lauderdale to Cancun, since Spirit Airlines only flies to Cancun from Fort Lauderdale. I think in the long run, the all airfares would cancel each other out price wise or might cost me $100 more with the split stay.

On our honeymoon in '92 we stayed at CBR for a week then drove up the east coast and stayed at Virginia Beach for another week. We have also spilt our time between WDW and my parents's condo in Cocoa Beach since the kids came along.

I think my kids would be BUMMED to leave WDW, no matter where else we were planning to go! I'd have to have WDW last.

We switched it for the second time, and found it was better for us to go to WDW first.

Re: Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW
I think it would be fun to take 2 vacations back to back. We have always gone for at least 2 weeks and spent 4 or 5 days at Universal after we have stayed at Disney. When we go in December, we will be there for 3 weeks which will be wonderful. Maybe on the trip after that, Dh and I are thinking about spending a week in Key West and the rest of the time at Disney and Universal. We had thought about doing it on our December trip, but it will be my Dsister's first trip, so we want to show her as much of the magic as we can!

Re: Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW
I think since I already took care of my air arrangements for Chicago to Orlando, I will just shorten the trip and use the extra days sometime next year for a seperate trip to Cancun.
Trying to make all the flights and times work, would just be to much work to do. Now I just have to figure out which type of room at the Poly to get.

Re: Has anyone stayed at another vacation place first, then gone and stayed at WDW
You should consider someplace near WDW at the beach! We went to Clearwater first last trip for a few days and that area is incredible! You can stay on the beach for a relatively cheap price and the beaches there are gorgeous!
There is alot to do and it is a fun little town! The water there is amazing. We did that then went to Universal for two days then on to WDW! It was a lot of packing and moving but it was worth it. We had fun at all the locations.
