Okay. I have finally gotten around to making reservations, for tomorrow. Being that we debated all week about where to stay, I'm a bit surprised that we got anything for this weekend. Anyways, the only availability was either, AS Sports or AS Music (nothing in moderates, whatsoever). DH didn't want to stay at a value resort, at all (he's been spoiled by the deluxe resorts) and nearly snubbed the moderates

Well, when he went out. I called Disney and paid for a room at AS Music. We have always stayed at AKL. But, this is just an overnight stay, just for the weekend. I'm thinking no big deal but I'm still a little bit nervous. The big perks for me is 1) How bad can it be, it's Disney? 2) We still get free parking 3) We can take advantage of Early Park Entry and Extra Magic Hour and 4) I'm not paying more than $100 (including tax) on this room....HUGE bonus I'm gonna spring this one on him, as soon as he walks in, though. Of course, had I waited to agree on something with him, we would be 1) paying $150-$200/nt. or 2) staying so far away from the parks, the trip wouldn't be worth it because decent hotels in the area are, either booked or priced more than what I'm willing to spend, this weekend.

So, I guess I win this debate. 1-0 :)

I'm a little nervous about staying at a value resort. But, I'm still looking forward to it. Any tips on room requests for check-in?

No tips, but good job. Saving money and staying on site. You will be fine. Just don't let him be too picky. It is a value resort. Have a great time!

You never know, you may enjoy your stay, and, saving money at the same time. You will have fun. If it were a choice between off-site hotel and a value resort at WDW, I would choose value hands down.

I stayed there in 97...it's fine really . It's only for the weekend, so it's not that big of a deal. I really have no recomendations for that resort. Try and get something close to the food court check in area though....it can be a hike to the furthest room. There are two high schools from my area staying at AS Sports this weekend for their senior trip, so I am glad you went with music. I love my kids at work, but I can't imagine how loud a few hundred of them would be on their senior trip..lol

I think it will be fine. My parents stayed there a while ago, and the LOVED it. And I always stay in A-S Movies, and I love it. It is more Disney than the other resorts, which is pretty cool, and the rooma and the service and all is very nice. Its also only a weekend, so I think you will be fine.

I am practically the Queen of Values. (well... princess, I guess ) My family never stays anywhere else, with a few rare exceptions, because of the money issue. No, they're not as fancy as moderates of course, but they still have all the Disney touches - nice decorations, clean rooms, friendly & helpful CM's, etc. We love them. As far as suggestions, here's a map from wdwinfo.com that shows where the buildings are.

ASMusic is at the bottom in blue. Calypso 1 & 10 are the closest buildings to the lobby, but I think they're preferred locations so you might get charged extra for them. Not sure though... Hope some of this helped and I hope you have a great time! :)

rob and i stayed at ASMu during our last trip and loved it there. yes, you do get all the perks you would get if you were staying at the AKL. so what you're staying in a value resort. it's only for the weekend, like you said. you only need the room to sleep and shower, right? you can use the saved money to buy souveniers and go to nice restaurants. you'll have fun. i know you will. enjoy your weekend trip and don't forget your TR when you get back.

my friend and his family stayed at ASM last year....and hated it....dont mean to worry you more, but i heard alot of bad reports

iluvwdw2, don't worry about it! I think I know how your husband feels...I had only stayed at the Polynesian before staying at All-Star Movies 2 years ago, and REALLY did NOT want to stay at a Value (or even a Moderate.) I was terribly worried about it right up until we went...and we LOVED the All-Stars! Sure it's no Deluxe, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I seemed to think it was going to be.

We have stayed at all the all stars except PC and several moderates. AS Movies was our favorite of the values. Their food court has the best selection, the piano themed pool was a big hit with the kids and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

Her fears are not unfounded though. I felt the same way after going from a Deluxe one trip to a Value the next.

I've stayed at various resorts from the Dolphin & Yacht Club to the CBR and all three All-Stars. I can tell you bluntly ...

YOU HAVE NOTHING WORRY ABOUT. The All-Star resorts are absolutely fine.
