Pirate Cruise at Grand Floridian

Last month my two DS (ages 9 and 4) went on the Pirate Cruise at GF- (we weren't guests at GF). They had a very good time- even my nine year old. He is a pretty cool kid but can get in on the Disney magic- so he said he liked it, but would say that the upper age for this trip is 9. It was very safe with all children required to wear a life vest throughout the whole experience. The kids got Mickey-eared pirate hats (which I saw at Downtown Disney for $10) , lunch, and a goodie bag of "treasures". The trip itself was about 2 hours and just long enough for me to spend some time resort hopping on the monorail. I would say that the ideal age is 4-8 from the feedback from my sons. They were excited to give their opinions on DC!

Re: Pirate Cruise at Grand Floridian

Hi Leslieh,

We are thinking of letting our kids girl 5 yrs & boy 10 yrs go on the "pirate cruise" at G/F. I'm glad you and your kids gave it a good review. My only problem is my kids are allergic to peanuts. I will have to make a call and find out if there is an alternate sandwich.

Re: Pirate Cruise at Grand Floridian

dlashe, I'm sure that if you call in advance, they will offer your kids something besides peanut butter if they are allergic, but how allergic are they? Is it okay for them to be around others eating it? If not, I would probably skip this. I know some kids are so sensitive that they can't even touch a bag, etc. that the sandwich used to be in. I know that disney provides special meals when there is a good reason, and a peanut allergy certainly qualifies. Maybe they could give your kids a cheese sandwich instead or something like that.

Re: Pirate Cruise at Grand Floridian

I just checked with my older DS and he said that thy were served gummies, a rice crispy marshmallow snack, Hi-C and the prepackaged Smucker's Peanut Butter and Jelly... Even though it is an outdoor activity, I would be concerned if other kids were fed PBandJ. Usually WDW is so good at accomodating food requirements, that it is worth a phone call to see if they can offer another food item instead of PB to all kids on the cruise!

Re: Pirate Cruise at Grand Floridian

I have also heard that starting this spring there is also a pirate cruise leaving from the Boardwalk/BC area. Our IllumiNation pilot told us last summer that it might happen, it looks like he was right.

That's not a bad price, especially for a break from the kids!

Re: Pirate Cruise at Grand Floridian

If you call the day before you can request a different sandwich. They will call it an alergy, whether it is or not. You still need to book 90 days out though. Our daughter (5) did it and really liked it.
