New military discount at WDW.

Disney has announced a new miliatary discount. U.S. active military personnel are eligible for 50 percent discount at select Walt Disney World Resorts, available most nights from October 3, 2002 through December 25, 2002, excluding November 26 through November 29. The number of rooms available at this rate is limited. Additional charges apply if there are more
than two adults per room. Active military personnel must present proper military identification at time of check-in.

All active U.S. military personnel are eligible for these special rates. Activated members of the National Guard or Reservists also must show active duty orders.

As for sample prices, in October, the All-Stars are $59/night, including tax, and the moderates are $91 per night, including tax. Each member is limited to 3 rooms.

Thanks for the information Mickey. We have friends who are in the military and they might be interested to know this. Thanks again!

Mickey....

Do you know of any discounts that are available for emergency service workers? (ie: firemen, police officers, paramedics, etc.?)

If there are none, is there a way to suggest this to Disney? Sea World did this at their San Antonio park a year ago, gave free days for them for the remainder of the season. My husband was free, the rest of us paid regular admission.

Just wondering....

Thanks for your help!

As far as I know, the release said active military personnel, and it also included those in the reserve who are on active duty. Proper identification must be shown at check in.

That does it - I making my husband re-enlist! Kidding, of course! (I was so relieved when he got that Honorable Discharge in December.) The discounts are great and well-deserved! :)

DH and I took advantage of the free passes for active duty military last year. What a treat! Our military really deserves the special treatment for all they do (and give up) for our freedom!

I don't believe that it can be applied to an existing reservation, but you shouldn't have any problem booking a new one. Any deposit you have already paid should be able to be transfered. We at Mouseketrips have done that several times for clients.

Does that mean that the BWI is included in the discount? What credentials do they require? Last year we only had to present DH active duty ID card.

I believe that BWI is included. You just need to show active ID at check in. You also need to book the room using the discount as well.

Mickey...I just called central reservations about the discount and was able to book a room at BWI for one night for the low, low price of $188 (down from $283 AAA price). Not too bad.
But...
I'll have to break apart my package to get that good room rate every night of my stay. I'm not sure that I am willing to give up the all inclusive benefits to save a few hundred dollars. Well, maybe.....
looks like I've got more homework to do:weird:

What dates are you going and do you want to stay at BWI the whole time? What package are you getting? I'll see what I can do for you.

PS. You can send me an email or private message if you would rather.
