My family and I are about to visit WDW for the first time...We are staying at the Contemporary Resort...
Are there any specific issues that we should be aware of regarding our stay at the Contemporary ???:) |

You will have a great time their. The only issues I had was the size of the resort, and the boat trafic noise. We had a South Garden Wing room facing Bay Lake allmost the furthist point from the main lobby. Being on the water their was a lot of boat traffic traveling from Bay lake to the Seven Seas Lagoon and vise versa. If you are in the tower these are non issues.

We just got back from WDW two weeks ago. We stayed at the Contemporary while we were there. The only issue I might think of that might weigh on your trip that unless you plan on eating at the Concourse Steakhouse or Chef Mickey the food at the Fiesata Fun is mostly hamburgers, hot dogs, stale sandwiches or losey pizza. Their breakfasts are good. We ate most of lunches at Mk or Boardwalk when we were at Epcot. ESPN has a great Roast Beef snadwiches that is huge and they have a good menu for the kids. The Columbia Harbour in Liberty Square is a good place for lunch also. If you have kids I suggest Chef Mickey for breakfast and if the kids like the Disney Villians I suggest 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian for dinner. The one shop for drinks and snack is limited at the Contemporary. The rooms are the second largest of all the properties.

mbb, welcome to DisneyCentral. One nice thing about the Contemporary is that it is really the only resort within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom. There is a nice sidewalk that follows the monorail to the main entrance, and is only about a 10 minute walk. Usually way faster than waiting for the resort monorail, and then stopping at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian.
Have a great trip!

Hey mbb1234! Welcome to Disney Central! I stayed at the contemporary this past February and LOVED IT! My only suggestion is to stay in the TOWER! The difference between the tower and the wings are huge...atleast what I think. Staying in the tower means you have a perfect balcany view of either the Magic Kingdom park, or Bay Lake (You can request which one when making reservations..disney is usually very good with answering any requests). Staying in the tower also means you are within walking distance to the Monorail, which means you have perfect access to the MK and EPCOT parks. The wings are nice, but to get to and from your room to the lobby and monorail can take quite some time. I would deffinitely spend the extra bucks to upgrade to the Tower. Thats my only suggestion. Issues? There are no issues when you stay at the contemporary! lol.:D

We just got back last week from the Contemporary North Garden Wing and we thought it was OK. Walking to MK was very convienient and the Monorail access was a big plus. We did not find the walk from our room to the Monorail too long.
On the negative side the food and fun center gets old real quick. The menu is limited and the food is not very good. Our rooms in the wing were big but kind of plain. Don't know what the Tower rooms were like. Sounds like you get the best views from those rooms though. Overall our experience was not too bad. It's not like you spend too much time in your room anyways right? Have fun! :)

Excellent choice for your first trip to Disney! :D
We stayed there back in February on our first trip (see comments under Contemporary reviews-Presidents Weekend) and were pleased with the complex. A few small items to note: 1. If your on a budget and your staying in one of the wings, you can avoid valet service by driving your car around the back of the wing and carrying your luggage to the room; otherwise the staff is very helpful (Tip is $1/bag). 2. If your facing the complex, the north wing is on the left and the south wing is on the right. 3. If my memory serves correct, there are two flights of escalators that are just beyond the front desk that give access to the wings. 4. Usual toiletries are provided and there is a safe in the room. We left all personal items there and used the Disney card (room key) for purchases. 5. Ask the Monorail operators if you can ride with the driver. Pretty cool perspective! If you would like a copy of our vacation notes with itineary/comments/expenses/ratings, let me know. Regards, |

I love the Contemporary Resort! I have only stayed in the Tower rooms. The Fiesta Food Court has adequate food. Nothing to rave about but it's ok. Concourse Steak House and Chef Mickey are great places to eat. We never had a proble, with noise in the tower. The rooms are huge and the views are great. Plus the walk to the MK is great. :D
