Which resort?

Which resort would any of you experts suggest for my family and I to stay a? My family consists of myself and spouse and DS - 9 and twin DD - 2 yr. The problem I see is that many of the resorts post only 4 people to a room. Does this apply to little children as well?

Re: Which resort?

I would suggest the POR. Last June we had my DW and 4 kids in the room and it was more than enough room. I know we stayed at ASM and had 5 in the room, one being an infant a few years ago though and I am sure others do too. Cost wise staying at any of the AS resorts will be half of what you pay at POR which might be a consideration too.

Re: Which resort?

Disney6 beat me to it...POR is probably your best choice, because you will fit comfortably into a room since it's made for 5! And the rates will be better than trying to get 2 rooms at a Value...which you would probably want to do if you chose an All-Star. One room could get really cramped in MHO.

Re: Which resort?

The Contemporary may be a good choice for your family.
The rooms are large, and if you plan on spening lots of time at th MK you are right there.
I don't believe they count children under 3 years old as extras in a room.
They also supply those pack-n-play cribs if you need to use them.

Re: Which resort?

I suggest PC because the room feels a little bit bigger to me than the All-Stars. Also, since your twins are under the age of 3,I just wouldn't tell Disney about them. Just have your spouse take all your children to the arcade or gift shop while you check in.

Re: Which resort?

You will be fine with 5 in your room at any Disney resort since children under 3 don't count. Room limits are 4 plus 1 child under 3.

Since your kids are young I am guessing that you will be spending a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom. You can't go wrong with any of the Magic Kingdom resorts, they are all nice. Wilderness in the cheapest of the deluxe resorts, yet it's still very nice. You can take a launch to the MK and a bus to the rest of the parks.

Re: Which resort?

Don't overlook the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. We stay there comfortably with 5 adults. There's a back bedroom (with TV) for the kids, a pull down double bed in the livingroom, a deck and a full kitchen (with wonderful Mouskeepers who do ALL your dishes and housework!). Plus, since it's a campground resort, it can serve as a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the parks. The down side can be that it's not really Disney-themed, and some people don't like the bus system. Whatever resort you choose though, you'll have a great time!

Re: Which resort?

I second the Port Orleans-Riverside suggestion. The Alligator Bayou section rooms are designed to handle 5 people and it's a beautiful resort besides. It's also cheaper than Wilderness Lodge or Contemporary

Re: Which resort?

The rooms ar Caribbean Beach Resort are the largest of any of the moderate WDW resorts. CBR was the first "non-deluxe" resort constructed. In later moderate resorts, the rooms were made a wee bit smaller. But since thw twins are so young, any of the moderates would be fine, I imagine. I've stayed at all trhee All-Stars and liked all, but with three kiddos, the rooms could tend to get smaller and smaller....if you know what I mean.

Good luck!

Re: Which resort?

I would try for the Alligator Bayou. They have trundle beds that should accommodate the entire family.

Re: Which resort?

They are all great in their own way. My wife, me and my two girls have stayed at value resorts twice and moderates twice. I personally like the moderates better. Trying CBR this July 2005.

Dixies Landing 1996
Allstar Movies 1999
Port Orleans 2003
Pop Century 2004

Whatever you pick you should have a great time!

POR is great but if you can do it I would stay at a resort close to Epcot or MK. It makes the trip so much easier with little ones. You can't stay long at the Parks and this way you can get back so fast to your room, take a break and return without dealing with transportaion issues. It so nice to be at a monorail resort.

Re: Which resort?

I would say POR (Alligator Bayou section), because we stayed there two years ago and there was plenty of room and my DD who was 10 at the time loved to sleep on the trundle bed. You can fit two little ones on the trundle bed and they will probably be very happy. My DD and her friends still enjoy sleeping on the floor together in the living room when someone spends the night. I think POR would be a great choice for you and your family and you can check for discounts and get the room for a really great rate.

Re: Which resort?

i would have to say Beach Club. it's great for families and the location is superb. you're right next door to Epcot and about 10 mins. away from MGM. the rooms are big enough to hold your family.
