40% Military Discount Issue
Here is the tough choice I am facing:
I am currently reserved for Aug 6-14 at SOG at the cost of $97 per night with no taxes ($873 total). With the discount just released for active duty of 40% I could stay at one of the following resorts (tax not included): Polynesian $182 Beach Club $176 AKL (Sav. view) $168 Old Key West $155 Ft Wilderness Cabin $140 WL (woods view) $138 AKL (pool view) $135 CBR, POR, POFQ all $89 I am leaning towards going to the WL from opinions expressed on DC, but is it really worth it? Are any of the others worth it? Or better to just stay put and save the money? Keep in mind I am not going to be doing much at the resort but sleeping...although I do all ready have ADR with Whispering Canyon (along with a ton of other restaraunts) As always thanks for all your advice.

Re: 40% Military Discount Issue
Wow, those are great rates! I think you should try something new, especially since you have been to SOG before, and you can always stay there another time. You have to take these great rates while they are available.

Re: 40% Military Discount Issue
I would switch over to WL for only $40 more per night. We have stayed at SoG and WL in the last two years and both resorts are really nice. I like the 24/7 magic that comes from staying at a Disney resort.
Reasons to stay at SoG: The rooms at SoG are much larger than the rooms at WL. The rooms at SoG sleep 5 easily. The bathrooms at SoG are huge. Reasons to stay at WL: You have a great rate you may never get again! I like the Disney transportation better than the SoG transportation. The theme is a little better. Disney all day and night. You have stayed at SoG before, try something new. What about a split between two great Disney resorts? WL and Beach Club sounds great to me.

Take advantage of these rates while you can. Who knows if they will be available for your next trip!

You've earned it!! Beach Club would be a lot of fun...walking around the Boardwalk in the evening is wonderful! Does the Boardwalk Inn have those great rates as well? I'd check that also! I vote for the Yacht&Beach, Beach Club or Boardwalk...location, location, location!! All those resorts restaurants, nightclubs etc available to you without hopping on a bus! Swan & Dolphin also have rates for military I think...I'd investigate that as well, just to have all your options available to you known. BTW- How is the Shades of Green transportation? I've never noticed, do they have a bus stop at the parks?? |

Re: 40% Military Discount Issue
Thanks all for your input, talked with DW and we decided to upgrade from SOG to WL, however upon calling for reservations they were all ready booked for the $138 woodsview rooms, had to go with a courtyard view (pool and geyser they said) at $153 per night. I was told this is a great rate by WDW reservations. I hope it is worth it because DW frowned a bit upon finding out we are spending about $450 more total on the room than had I kept with SOG.

You are going to love WL. There is nothing like walking through those front doors and seeing that lobby for the first time. Like SoG, WL is small, only about 700 rooms and they are all under one roof. You are a boat ride from the MK and Contemporary Resort (where you can get on the monorail). I could go on all day but I won't. I think you are going to love WL and your wife is going to thank you for spending the extra money to stay at a great resort.
