Visiting pools (French Qtr) and AKL

I will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside Dec 20-23.

POOL Question: I am wondering if we can use other pools. Also, the French Quarter pool looked great. But I heard the French Quarter is closed. Is this true? Are the French Quarter Pools open anyway?

ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE: I would love to take a quick peak inside - is this allowed?

I have gone to the AKL to look around. It should be no problem, just tell the guard that you want to look around. I believe that they will give you a day pass.
As far as I know, if you stay at POR you can use the pool at POFQ.
You will love POR!

If you are staying at one of the Port Orleans resorts, you can use the other pool no problem. It is just a short walk or boat ride to the other resort. Both resorts are currently open, though French Quarter was closed for a while earlier this year.

As far as Animal Kingdom Lodge, I would suggest eating at Boma or Jiko. Boma is a buffet, and has wonderful food. Jiko is more upscale and one of the nicest restaurants on property. That way you can show up an hour early, walk around. Then you have time to eat, and walk around again. It is a beautiful resort, and is even better at night.

Visiting the Lodge

The buffet at Boma is incredible and you can wander the public areas guilt free. The Lodge is striking at night, the fire pits are burning and around 10 pm the CM's sing and wind through the lobby. I suggest everyone check it out.

Ahh... The Pool at DAKL. Such fond memories. :-)
It may not look like much, but it's got it where it counts!
And Mickey's right - the night times are special. Though the animals can (mostly) be seen during the day.
