POP CENTURY or POR

I booked POR but now my DD wants to try PC! I'm torn, financially it makes sense, the cost of PC and airfare just about equals the price of POR itself! But I'm just not so sure about the value hotels. Please tell me about your experiences with PC- good and bad!
Thanks

Re: POP CENTURY or POR

We have stayed at other value resorts, however, when we went last time to POR, my wife and I fell for the moderate. I think there are several things you have to consider:
1. Time of year you are going (we go during Value Season, so everything closes by 7pm, so we need the resort entertainment)
2. Family size (we are now 6, squeezing into a value room is NO Vacation)
3. Ages of the kids (POR offers a theme pool, fishing, water crafts, etc) if you are not going to use these, then why pay extra.

Hope this helps.

Re: POP CENTURY or POR

We stayed at PC at Christmas and will be staying there again this summer. We absolutely loved it. The theming is great, each decade section plays music specific to that time period. It is also much more centrally located than the other value resorts. No more than 15 minute bus ride to any park. We are a family of four with a 15 year old DD and 11 year old DS so we get two connecting rooms. Lots of space and more importantly, two TVs and two bathrooms. The rooms are smaller that at a moderate but if you don't plan on spending a lot of time at the resort, it shouldn't matter that much.

Re: POP CENTURY or POR

Is is only going to be you and your DD in the room? If it is, then I would go for it and let her pick the resort. You will save some money and DD will get to pick. If there are more than two, I wouldn't stay there unless I was gettting two rooms. I hate being crowded and those rooms are tiny.

PC is small, but nice. We enjoyed the experience.

Re: POP CENTURY or POR

We stayed at PC last July, it was great but as there was 4 of us (DH, 2 DDs 12 + 8 and Me!) after the first night we got the room next door too! That was so much better 2 bathrooms and 2 TV's. And all that space.
My DD's loved PC, we were in the 80's building and it was about a 5-7 miunte walk to the food courts and bus stops and we were right by the computer pool.

Re: POP CENTURY or POR

I stayed at both and I like both. We are going back to PC in August. I think PC is a little louder than POR--not just with a lot of kids --you can hear your neighbor's toilet flushing. I know my niece and nephews loved PC in March.

Re: POP CENTURY or POR

I have stayed at POR, but not at PC. POR is a great resort with beautiful scenery. I was impressed with PC though, after visiting it on my last trip. I have stated at ASMu and would never stay there again, but I would consider staying at PC. It was not as noisy as the other All Stars seemed to be.

Re: POP CENTURY or POR

I had a good expirience with PC when I stayed. The only problems I had were a result of the fact that the resort had only opened a month prior and was till getting setup and recieving supplies.

Your decision is very tough becuase honestly both resorts are wonderful, but both are VERY different. If you want to return to the Bayou go with POR if you want a trip down memory lane then go with PC.

Re: POP CENTURY or POR

I thought I made up my mind to try PC, but then started reading threads that complained about excessive noise! How bad is it? Are the walls really thinner at the value resorts or does it just seem that way? I will really miss the hot tub but I can't rationalize spending an extra $500 just to go in a hot tub for 15 minutes a day! Please convince me that PC will be just as enjoyable as POR! I also heard horror stories about long lines heading back to the resort at night, is that true?

Re: POP CENTURY or POR

Have not been to PC yet but we will be there this fall/winter for three weeks. Picked PC because of all the rave reviews we have seen here on DC. Stayed at Poly last time and was not to pleased with the price verses room and amenities. We were thinking of splitting up the trip between PC and a Moderate or the Wilderness Lodge but just couldn't see the extra $ for a bed and an hour or so around the resort.

Re: POP CENTURY or POR

We stayed at PC in March. The lines were longer but Disney worked very well at getting extra buses to the stop.. I saw as many as 3 at one time loading people on. The busiest times were right after fireworks and spectra. I have to say overall we loved PC. It was beautiful. We only have 3 in our party and actually spent a whole day at the resort except for our AR's and found it to be enough space. Hope that helps, enjoy your trip to the Magically Place!

When we were there last Dec, I did not think it was loud in the room. Outside by the pool it was noisy, but not inside. I thought WDW did a great job here. The buss lines were really long at the end of the day at MK, but they brought lots of busses quickly and it was not much of a wait. I trick we do now is to try to leave before Spectro or Wishes, or wait quite a while after they are over. NEVER EVER try to catch a buss right after one of these...do other things inside MK instead if you can....avoid the stroller derby at all costs.

We stayed 1 night at Pop last summer and the noise from the pool could be heard in our room but it wasn't too bad. Over all it's a great value, you get the Disney magic 24/7 at a great price.
