Disney Swan

Why is it that I don't see anybody talking about staying at this hotel? My family and I are planning a trip from 4/1/06 to 4/13/06 (first one to WDW mind you) and I see folks interested in every hotel but the Swan. Is there something wrong with it? The pool and location look outstanding.

Why is this?

Thanks

Re: Disney Swan

First, welcome to DC. There are a few people on here who have stayed there. I just can't think of who they are. Swan and Dolphin aren't disney hotels, but are on property sorta. You get all disney resort privelages but room charging. I haven't ever considered staying there. I like the over-the-top themed resorts owned by disney. That's just my opinion.

Re: Disney Swan

Thank you. That's interesting. I think I'm more into the balanced approach rather than "over the top." ; ) I don't know if I could take over the top for that long. Am really looking forward to the trip though. Grew up in so cal and have never been to wdw. I like starwood propertied though. From what I have gleened outside of this forum, the Disney properties are starting to age?

Re: Disney Swan

Hello & welcome!

Dana hit the nail on the head with the Swan. We have considered staying there. The location of the Swan is outstanding being so close to Epcot and the studios.

As far as the Disney properties starting to age. Naaaaaaaaa
The POly and Contemporary are getting room rehabs as we speak and the rest of the resorts still look great to me.

Re: Disney Swan

We are BIG fans of the Swan! Location, location, location, of course. But it's just a lovely hotel. Personally, I think it's very well themed, and quite refreshing. The rooms are big, light and airy, very nicely decorated and best of all....they have those Heavenly Beds!! My favorite part of all.

Both the Swan and Dolphon recently finished their renovations, so everything is nice and new in there. The grotto pool is just lovely. It's very large, but it also meanders off into different sections, so it doesn't appear to be crowded. There's a pool slide and a hot tub there too, just like the other deluxe resorts. And they have their own spa!!! (A big plus for me!)

Also, one of the nicest percs is having the water taxi that comes to the hotel to take you on a pleasant boat ride to Epcot, MGM, the Boardwalk and all the other Epcot area hotels.

Between the Swan and Dolphin there are many fine restaurants. And you're connected to all the other restaurants in the Epcot area by a short boat ride too.

We've stayed there twice now and are going back again this summer, this fall and probably in January for the marathon too.

Re: Disney Swan

Swan and Dolphin are great! Never stayed, because when they send me specials, they never seem to be available when I need them. But as far as a great location to EPCOT & MGM you can't beat it. The walk to these parks are great!!!!

Re: Disney Swan

Oh and don't forget you can get BIG discounts at the Swolphon if you're a teacher, nurse, military or Gov worker. AAA members and AP rates apply there as well.

then you have picked the right resort. That is exactly why there are so many choices at WDW...something for everyone's taste. AS for the WDW resorts starting to age, I think you are mistaken. They are rehabbed when needed and are in top shape in my eyes. Some need it more than others, but all in all they are excellent resorts.

Re: Disney Swan

I stayed at the Swan once and it was very nice. But it didn't have the Disney feel to it that I was looking for. I prefer to be immersed in Disney on my trips!

Re: Disney Swan

The Swan is also very cheap compared to Disney's rates. I think the Swan and Dolphin are two of the best deals onsite.

Re: Disney Swan

We spent 10 magical days at the Swan in 2003. We had an absolutely awesome time.
As others have said, you can't beat the location.
And i also feel you can't beat their rates. If you are lucky enough to get the teacher, nurse or military discount you can stay there for the same as a moderste sometimes. They quite often have super deals floating around.
I didn't feel we were missing some of the Disney magic that some have mentioned...and I am all about the Disney magic!!
The room was great, the beds even better. And the CMs were wonderful.
Feel free to ask away with any questions!!

Re: Disney Swan

We have stayed at the Swan twice and we love it. The location is the best in WDW and the rooms are great. We stay at the Royal Beach Club (Concierge level) and it's well worth the money. If you like a hotel with a wonderful theme, this is not your hotel. But the beds are the best on the planet. A little random, I know. I recommend the Swan to everybody. It's absolutely wonderful!
