Best rooms at Pop Century

I think I've finally decided to stay at Pop Century for our fall trip. Is it worthwhile to book a perferred room? What does the extra $10.00/night get you? What is the best area/room to request? Thanks again for any answers.

If you book preferred you'll be in the 60's buildings. Thats the areas closest to Classic Hall (the food court and the bus stops)......it has it's ups and it's downs..you're closer..yet your in a more condensed area...
In my opinion it's worth the extra $$...especially since POP is so immense...BUT..Ive never had a preferred room at POP...I always request the 80's building...and they do just fine for us! The 70's buildings are also close

Why do you like the 80's?

Re: Best rooms at Pop Century

For what it's worth, we stayed in a 50's building and enjoyed it. Yes, it was further away from the main building but it's not that long of a walk (unless it's raining really hard . . . . That only happened to us once.) The flip side of that was, it was very quiet which was good for DS. We were on the first floor overlooking the lake. It was nice!! We personally wouldn't spend the extra $10 for a preferred room.
By the way, I hope you enjoy PC as much as we did!!

Re: Best rooms at Pop Century

I don't think preferred rooms are worth it, unless you've got extra money. I'd much prefer spending it on a nice bottle of wine, or a funky fruity drink, or an extra gift to bring home.

The 70's and 80's are almost as close to Classic Hall and are actually a shorter walk to the buses.

Re: Best rooms at Pop Century

i was just thinking about the nice discount we got with our AP's and how much money we saved for our room. does it matter what building we get our room in? should i go for a preferred room? can i call up and request what building i want to stay at?

We just got back from WDW and we stayed at Pop Century. We were in the room number 9152 and 9153. These are only a short walk across the parking lot to the buses and the food court. Also it was nice because the pool was on the other side of the building do it was pretty quiet.
This my second stay in the same area of Pop Century and both times I have been very happy. David

We stayed in the 50's and the 70's last time and I have to say that I prefered the 70's its much closer to the Classic hall and bus stops but its not as packed as the 60's. It also seemed a bit funkier too in decoration. Either way your going to have a great time at Pop Century, we most certainly did.

Re: Best rooms at Pop Century

do the rooms have any decor to go with the theme of the building? i think it's the 70's that have lava lamps. i'm not sure. but are they like that, where you'll find things in the room that are suited for the building theme?

Re: Best rooms at Pop Century

There are no lava lamps in the 70s rooms. The only decorative item aside from the bedspread was a framed poster. Great poster tho! It had some disney stuff from the 70s such as the mickey backscratcher (which I own!), the old admission/ride tickets, and stuff like that. I would have purchased a copy if it was for sale.

The decorations are mainly the large decorations (couples doing the hustle), etc, on the outside of the building, and the hughe 8 tracks at each stairwell, the Mickey phone, foozball, big wheel, twister games, outside of the building.

I thought the 70's buildings were great. Not a long walk at all.

Re: Best rooms at Pop Century

I stayed in the 70's. It is actually the closest building to the bus.

If you pay the extra money for the 60's you can actually find yourself further from Classic Hall than you would have been in the 70's.

Re: Best rooms at Pop Century

We have stayed in the 80's building. It was great it was only a 5 min walk to the Classic Hall and bus stops. We were the wrong side of the pool so it was quite too! IMHO I don't think any of the rooms are that far from anything. I wouldn't pay for the extra money for a room in the 60's as the pool at the 60's is always so busy and noisey.

I'm hoping that's true. Last time we stayed at ASM and our preferred room was about 200 ft closer than my daughter's non-perferred room, so the extra money wasn't worth it in my opinion. So this time we are trying POP and looking at the map, nothing looks too far away. Of course closer is better, but this time we'll take our chances.

Re: Best rooms at Pop Century

The CM who took our reservation recommended the 70's too. I've also read that the 50's were also a good location-you can see the fireworks from EPCOT! Can you see them from the 70's also? I like the idea of being near the busses so I think I may request the 70's building. It should be fun as I grew up in the 70's!
