Hmm, should I go?

Hi everyone,

I need some advice. I haven't had a WDW trip in 2 years (while I am finishing a grad school program and have little money) but have been promising myself that as soon as I am set with school and get a full time job, I will plan a trip once vacation time sets in. So, right now I am doing an internship in Maine where I am paid enough to cover my bills and save a little.

Since Disney announced the free dining plan on trips through October 4, I have been super tempted to plan a trip. I figured it out and it would cost me around $640 for a 4 night stay with hotel (Port Orleans French Quarter - want to check out the redecorated rooms!), tickets, airfare, dining plan and magical express. So basically, since food is included, I would not have to bring much extra money. Plus, I would get to be there for the beginning of the Food and Wine Festival, which I love and it would be before I would have to worry about vacation time (since I would presumably not have started work full time yet).

Is it completely irresponsible to do this without a definitive full time job lined up or is it too good to pass up on the free dining plan and the chance to be there for Food and Wine and the 50th anniversary stuff? Help!

Go go GOOOO!! That is too great a deal to pass up IMO! Treat it as a gift to yourself for getting through grad school!! Sounds like a great plan to me (and I **think** you've already convinced yourself too!)

I'd say if you can say "yes" to any of the following, you should NOT go:

1. Will going now put you into debt?
2. Will going now make it harder for you to pay upcoming bills?
3. Do you feel it would be wiser to put off the trip until later, despite losing the dining deal?

It will definitely not put me into debt or make it harder to pay future bills. Before quitting my job for this internship (part of school), I was working full time at a decent paying job and managed to save a good amount of money. I just get to be a bit of a Nervous Nellie having to book the trip now and not knowing how long it will take me to find a full time job when I am done here at the end of August. I definitely would not do it if it involved debt!

The day after my job ended...and with no forseeable job in the future..is the day i LEFT for WDW for 9 days....
of course i had saved and pinched pennies since October...
So..if you can afford it..go!! It's the PERFECT stress reliever..

My vote is Yes!!!! Of course only you know what your financial situation is. So, if you say it's ok, I say "go for it", and have a great time.

You sound very level headed and mature and have things well thought out. No one can predict the future. Nothing would ever get done if everyone stopped to ask "what if" for every situation. I know how you feel. I'm a money-worrier too. But if you've worked everything out and feel you can do it - go. You've worked hard at school and deserve a vacation.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am definitely leaning towards going though I realized this morning that I will have to tweak with my dates a little since I have Red Sox tickets to sit on the Green Monster on October 2! Don't want to miss that!

I will keep you updated on what I decide!

this is a tough call for me. i'm sort of 50/50 about it. the one 50 part of me is saying go because it's the 50th anniversary, so much is going on down there to celebrate, yada yada yada. the other 50 part of me is saying can you afford to go, will it hurt you financially and then regret going, etc. i wish i can give you a definite answer but i can't right now.

but, after just reading your most recent post, being that you're leaning toward the trip, i do hope that something works out for you so you can go and not regret it in the end. good luck.

Of course you should go!

If it won't cause you financial troubles, I don't see ANY reason that should keep you from going. It sounds like the perfect time & perfect circumstances under which to take a trip - it will get you off to a fresh start when you come back and start work, too!

I have to second what others here have said and that is if it's not going to hurt you money wise when you get back then go for it. Its a long awaited trip and a great stress break for you also. GO FOR IT!!!!!!
