All Star Movies and Pop Century question

Hi all,

I will be staying at the All Star Movies next year, can I walk to the other All Star Resorts, or is it too far of a walk. How about walking to Blizzard Beach or is that also too far.

Also, is Pop Century going to be opened by August of 2003.

Thanks.

:)

All of the All-Stars are adjacent to each other, and while they are large resorts, it isn't too far to walk from one end to the other. While it is possible to walk from the All-Stars to Blizzard Beach, you have to cross a highway and walk along a busy road without sidewalks. The bus ride is only about 5 minutes.

Pop Century has been sitting idle for over a year now, and is done except for some final touches. There has been no indication of when it will be open. I would hope to see it open sometime next summer.

We had ressies to stay at Pop Century this past July. It was scheduled to open in March '02. When we got the letter stating we had to change resorts, there was no opening date mentioned. The same thing when we called-no opening date info at all. We wound up switching to CBR(a great resort, BTW). Pop Century is almost adjacent to CBR. What we could see of it at that time looked very unfinished. All we could see was a large hole in the ground. Mickey, if your information that it's been almost done for a year is correct, the only thing I can think of is that we were looking at the hole that will be the pool. The rest of the area was blocked by trees, so you could be right. At any rate, it will be huge whenever it is finished-as large as all the All-Stars put together.:D :)

When we were there in October, 2001, we drove right up to the front gate and could see the majority fo the buildings, and from the outside, it appeared to be totally completed. My understanding is that now, everything in the first phase is complete, and they could actually open the resort with only a couple of weeks notice. The photo below was taken in August, 2001. The schedule is that Pop Century will be built in three phases, similar to the All-Stars, but when completed, it will be one resort the size of the three All-Stars combined, over 5,000 rooms.

Are the bowling pins in a completed state. I think they would look better covered, but that's more of a preference issue. :hmmm

Yes, the promotional photo showed them in the same state that they are in the photo above, uncovered. Most likely has something to do with safety, since they double as the stairwells for that section of the resort.
