Re: recent 05' visits to POR

We didn't stay there in 2005, but we were there December 2004. The room was a decent size. The room size is 314 sq feet. Actually the rooms at POR, POFQ and CSR are the same size, the next size up is CBR at 340 sq feet.

Actually after just staying at CSR, I think our room at POR seemed a little bigger. The beds were full and they were fine. But the trundles are only in the rooms at Alligator Bayou. When we were at POR, were were in the Magnolia section and the trundles are not in those rooms.

We really liked POR, it is our favorite of the moderates so far!!

Hope that helps!!

Re: recent 05' visits to POR

Hi hula_girl1969, welcome to DC.

We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section last November and the rooms are very nice. Not too big, but who cares. Full size beds and a trundle; it is very small but it worked for one of my 11 year olds for the week. Just as long as he didn't have to share the bed with his brother...
The resort is soooo nice. It is a great choice.

Re: recent 05' visits to POR

Haven't been there this year, but it is our favorite resort. Beds are fine, but after a long day in the parks any flat surface will make me happy. Rooms are good size, bigger I think then values. I liked having real glasses in the rooms (not sure if they still do that). We have stayed on both sides, the Bayou and Mansions, both are great.

Yes the rooms are bigger than the value rooms, and they still had the glass glasses in our rooms at CSR 2 weeks ago! I love them too!

We were there in March. It was great. The bed was very comfy..we even got a free upgrade to a king bed with a water view. We have been there a few times before and have thought the rooms were of a good size. They are clean and the grounds are very well taken care of. We like POR lots :)

Re: recent 05' visits to POR

hi hulagirl, we stayed in POR back in january and loved everyminute of it....as usual! The first time we stayed there we were in the alligator bayou section ( lodge 28, great location BTW, has it's own quiet pool and bus stop at the back of property but is still close to main building and quiet) and they are the only ones with the trundle beds. Infact that year we took our mum and she slept in the trundle bed as she soooo tiny she thought it was really comfy!
This year we stayed in Magnolia bend and have to say this was our favorite part to be honest. Each of the rooms has a mini fridge and this was invaluable to us as we had our DD with us.

You will love this resort- guaranteed. Wherever you stay here will be stunning.

Re: recent 05' visits to POR

We just stayed at POR for seven nights in May. The resort is very nice! Our room was in Parterre Place - the "mansions" section. Parterre Place is the furthest section from the big pool, Boatwrights, etc., We wish our room had been a little closer - kin d of a long walk. But other than that, everything was great. We loved the "quiet" pool, but at Parterre, it was even a little bit of as walk (but the quiest pols are open 24/7).
The in-room fridge was roomy enough for snack, leftovers, sodas and water bottles. Two sinks made it easier getting ready, etc. Here's a hint: While the room was plenty big, if you want even more room, ask for a corner room. (Same goes for CBR).

Good luck!

Re: recent 05' visits to POR

We stayed at POR in Aug 2004 and Jan. 2005. The trundle bed is suitable for a small child, I would say under 52" tall. We first stayed in Alligator Bayou bldg. 15, which was great-close to bus and food court. We also stayed in bldg. 26, which was too far away from things, IMHO. I would request building 14 or 15 if possible. Be sure to take the boat ride to DTD. It is a relaxing ride.

You know the reason I loved being away from the "hubbub" and having a room at building 28 is because there seemed less traffic. Everyone shlepps past those buildings that are close by. I liked the peace and quiet. And I felt like I got my excercise.

Hi phayes93...Was lurking through old posts and found this one and I have a question(of course ) We currently have requested Parterre Place in the Magnolia Bend section of POR, but now I am concerned about the long walk described. The building we stayed in last time is now a smoking optional building so we don't want to stay there. I believe it was the Oak Manor. Is there a different building you would request next time?
