Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

Me, my husband and will be 5 year old are starting to plan our disney trip for next year. We are torn as to whether we should stay at the Wilderness Lodge or the Beach Club. The pool activities at the beach club look awesome, but since we are traveling with our child we are worried that maybe we need to be at a resort with quicker access to the Magic Kingdom. I would love any comparison between the two as well as comments as regarding bussing to the Magic Kingdom from the Beach Club as opposed to directly boating there if we should choose to stay at the Wilderness Lodge.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

I've never stayed at the BC, but have walked through. The pool is the biggest plus that I have seen. I love the WL and think the atmosphere is the best in the WDW resorts. Transportation from WL is very good to all the parks.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

I have done both recently, and I would choose the Beach Club just about every time. The Beach Club is beautiful, and the acess to Epcot is fantastic, especially after the fireworks.

Bus service to the MK was pretty good from both, but usually takes about the same amount of time since the bus ends up going to Fort Wilderness before going to the MK.

If you think you will be spending most of your time in the MK, go with one of the monorail resorts. If you are going to be everywhere, then either is a good choice.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

First of all, welcome to DC.

I won't be much help to you since I love both resorts. WL is my very favorite but BC is a close second. You are right, the pool at BC is awesome. My DS loved it, he could have don't nothing but play in that pool all week and been happy. The pool at the WL is nice but pretty typical.

We love the launch from WL to the MK, it is so relaxing. It is nice to be close to the MK since that's the park we go to the most. The BC is close to Epcot and MGM and that is nice. The WL is quiet and relaxing, BC is busier and noisier. I think the bus service is fine at either resort.

Honestly, both resort are wonderful. I think you will be happy with either one.

Having never stayed at the BC, I cannot offer an opinion. I just wanted to welcome you to disney central.

Welcome to DC. If you are going to spend a lot of time at the pool, I would go BC. You can't go wrong either way. Transportation from both will be a wash. You will find it easier to get to MK from WL, but if you want to go to Epcot then BC. Have fun and good luck.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

Once again, welcome! I would have to choose the Beach Club. Not only is Stormalong Bay the best pool at WDW you also have the advantage of the Boardwalk right across the lake. Everyone's stay is different, but we found WL crowded and noisy and the Beach Club very relaxing and laid-back.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

I love both resorts. The pool at Beach Club is big and if your 5 year old swims well then I would go with Beach Club. WL has better transportation to MK. Sorry I did not help very much but really you cannot go wrong with either resort.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

Having stayed at both resorts, I would by far vote for WL. It just feels like home to me. I just got back from WDW last night and really missed WL...we stayed at AS Sports. If it were up to me and money was no object it would be WL everytime!

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

I would say Wilderness Lodge, even though the Beach Club has the amazing pool, Cape May, etc. The reasons are generally practical: (1) Pool monitoring -- while Stormalong Bay is cool, I would have had a hard time keeping track of my 6-year-old there (I am a worry wart as my son thinks he is a better swimmer than he is). At WL, I could keep an easy eye on him while I sat on the side/read/pool bar (yes, the "adult" stuff was key for me). Also lots of very friendly life guards keeping watch on the slide all the time; (2) Rooms & Decor -- the bunk beds, western decor, etc. was a huge hit with both my kids (6 and 2). They really loved the western theme of the whole resort; (3) Price -- WL is the least expensive of the deluxe resorts; and (4) Boat transport to MK -- not much faster, but the kids really liked it. That all being said, we certainly plan on staying at the Beach Club when my kids are older and are more into Epcot. Either way, you will have an amazing time. Good luck!

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

I have never stayed at the Beach Club, but I recently posed a similar question and was overwhelmed by how much everyone loves the WL. I really had no idea it was so popular. The response for WL was all positive, not one bad comment. We are staying there on our next trip to WDW.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

i guess you can say i'm a little biased when i suggest the beach club and haven't stayed at the wilderness lodge yet. i think the beach club is just a lot of fun: the decor, the atmosphere, the location, the pool, and everything in between. i would love to stay at the wilderness lodge one day but i do have to say stay at the beach club. you'll have a blast.

Re: Wilderness Lodge vs. Beach Club

I have stayed at both.

The Beach Club, in my opinion just can't be beat, but I would recommend the WL if you plan to spend a lot of time at the MK.
