WDW Misc. News

Price of Vacation Insurance Increases in Two Days
Vacation insurance sold with Walt Disney Travel Company – Florida packages will increase to $59.95 for adults beginning June 30, 2005. Children ages 17 and under will continue to be covered at no additional cost, and Guests who made reservations prior to June 30 will not be affected.

This vacation insurance continues to offer great benefits that have been developed specifically for Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. It provides a variety of coverage and services, including trip delay, trip cancellation, lost baggage and medical assistance.

Bye-Bye Handstamps!
Did you know? Walt Disney World Theme Parks will no longer use handstamps for same day re-admission and Park Hopper privileges.

If Guests plan to re-enter or visit another Theme Park on the same day, they will be asked to present their valid ticket or Resort ID with ticket entitlements and utilize the Ticket Tag system.

The Ticket Tag system uses a special reader to match each ticket with the specific Guest who owns that ticket. These Ticket Tag system properties will be added to all remaining “pre-Magic Your Way ” tickets, including, but not limited to, Park Hopper and Park Hopper PLUS Tickets. Guests with “pre-Magic Your Way ” tickets should sign their existing tickets (even though there is no preprinted signature line) should they encounter a challenge with re-entry.

Walt Disney World Water Parks, Downtown Disney Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park and Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex will continue to use handstamps as part of their established admission procedures.

Last Week to Book Specially-Priced Package With Dining
Only a few days remain to book the discounted Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining. This specially-priced package offers a wonderful opportunity for Guests to stay, play and dine -- all for one fantastic price. Bookings must be made by Sunday, July 3.

I will miss the hand stamps. For some reason I like them. Guess I'm a goof. I get my hand stamped even though I don't need to because I have a DLR AP. ;)

Nope, not right now.

This offer is good for check-ins through 10/4 (I believe) and must be booked by 7/3. I am SOO excited about getting to take advantage of this great deal in BOTH September and October!! :)

With the finger scan system, there is now no need to get your hand stamped any more at any of the theme parks. When you exit, there will no longer be any CMs with bright yellow stamp pads looking for hands to stamp.

How does the finger scan system work? I have never gotten a clear explination for this.

OK - I'm confused. (big surprise)

We have a whole host of old tickets with Pleasure Island and Water Parks days still on them. Can we still use these?

Re: WDW Misc. News

Hopefully, no longer using the hand stamps will facilitate quicker movement out of the park, and maybe free up those CMs that did the hand stamping to open another ticket scanner for park entry. The ticket entry machines have to be the biggest back-up causing problems at the front gates. There are so many tickets that do not work the first time they are put through those card readers.

The scan system measures varies things on your fingers, like the distance between. It has NOTHING to due with fingerprints. Ideally, this prevents people from buying a ticket and then handing it off to someone else to use. That's not to say that people won't try to sell tickets with days remaining, but the unsuspecting buyers will not be able to use them.
