debating about upgrading room at PC

being that we got a nice discount for our room at PC with our AP's, i'm thinking of upgrading our room to a preferred room. do you think this is a good idea? i know the preferred rooms are closest to the food court and all, but i'm curious as to what decades have the preferred rooms. thanks guys.

I don't know which ones have the upgrades, but you should be able to tell just by looking at the map of the resort. Closest ones are it. Honestly, I would upgrade to preferred. I like being close to the center of things. It's my understanding that PC is huge, so that will be a plus. You do enough walking at the parks, why take a hike to get to your room too? Go for it.

OK, I just got into this with reservations. On our last trip we stayed in the 70's building and were right next to the food court. When I now put in my preference for a room, I asked for the 70's bldg. and if I should upgrade to a preferred room. She said that the 70's bldg is not a preferred bldg. so I would not have to upgrade to a preferred room. This person did not know about the new Best Rate prog. for guests with APs, and said I should just wait for the AP discounts to come out. So I am not sure of what she said.

Best rate program has to be booked online if I'm not mistaken. They are taking reservations for that program up until 12/19. I would book under that right away. You are guaranteed the lowest price offered, so it's a win/win situation. If an awesome AP rate comes out, you get it. Waiting for an AP rate may make you miss the Best rate program. I wouldn't wait at all if I were you.

The preferred rooms in PC are the 60's buildings...sometimes they are worth it sometimes they are not...you can actually get a room in the 70's or 50's buildings that are closer than if you got a far off room in the 60's buildings...all just luck of the drawl..
my last trip (before they started this best rate program so they may have changed it now) I tried to book a preferred room with a AP discount and I was told (several times..I always ask at least twice) that to get a preferred room I would loose my AP discount and have to pay regular price since the values dont offer deals on preferred rooms like the moderates and deluxes...just standards...but becareful because i actually found one CM who told me I could do it and then when she quoted me the price it was 124 dollars a night instead of 74...

ok, so i should ask for us to stay in the 70's building being that it's closer to the food court? i hope i have no trouble with that. if i call up now, will they give me a room at the 70's building? you are right dana about doing all that walking in the parks and having to hike to your room. that happened to us when we stayed at ASMu in January. we were in country fair and though we enjoyed it there, it did get a little tedious having to walk to the very end of the resort to get to our room after a long day in the parks. i'll try to remember to give them a call to see if i can get the room in the 70's building.

you can request 70's if you want...we've only requested once and we got what we wanted..so it really just depends on if they can accomidate your request...but usually they do there best......either way any room at POP is great!

Remember...Disney won't guarantee that your requests will be fullfilled. You can note on your reservation that you want a room in the 70's building but it's not a done deal.

I DO agree with other posters...IMHO I don't think it's worth the extra $ to get a preferred room at POP. It's not so spread out as to make that worthwhile.

PC is not 'huge'. It depends on what your perception of big is. It takes less than 5 mins to walk from one end to the other. I wouldn't personally pay to upgrade to a preferred room, they all seem to be near the hippy dippy pool which gets crowded and noisy.
