Free upgrade at AKL??

We booked a standard room at AKL for our stay. What are the chances of receiving a free upgrade to a deluxe room? We are celebrating my birthday and our anniversary and this is the first time we have been able to afford a deluxe hotel. We will be checking in around 11 am. How can I politely ask if an upgrade is available without sounding like a greedy grubber??

I have gotten a free upgrade both times I stayed at the AKL. There are not that many rooms at the AKL that aren't savannah view.

About asking, just ask. Say I was wondering if it were possible for me to have a savannah room.

I'm sure the CMs get it all the time, so you won't sound greedy if you just politely ask if there are any savannah view rooms available. Like Dana said, the amount of savannah view rooms vs. standard rooms at AKL is working to your advantage!

Please note that you will not get a deluxe room, since those are different than the savannah view rooms. I know many people who have a standard view room and were upgraded to a savannah view room. If Disney has a savannah view room available, they should upgrade you no problem. If you aren't upgraded, go ahead and ask when you check in.

When we stayed at WL in June, they upgraded us automatically...a Nice surprise to us!! So wait for the CM to offer the upgrade, and if not you could ask if there is any chance of getting an upgrade. Good luck!

hi everyone!

i am leaving for wdw on aug 10, and am staying at the contemporary. our 1st time staying in a deluxe. has anyone ever gotten a free upgrade in that hotel. i believe i have read that it is the budget season for that hotel. does anyone know what the chances are of getting an upgrade there?

I would never feel bad about asking for any kind of upgrade at Disney. We spend a ton to vacation there as it is.

Go ahead and ask, I did two weeks ago and was upgraded. CM was great and said she hears the request about 75% of the time someone with a standard view checks in.

I would say just ask when you check in. Everytime we've stayed there, we were able to get an upgrade. Infact, I remember one trip, they told us they had upgraded us without me even asking..... Like someone already said, it never hurts to ask. You may be suprised!!!!

Same thing happened to us in July at WL. We were offered a upgrade to Courtyard without asking.
