All Star Sports vs. Pop Century

Any major differences?

Does Sports have its own busses or does it share with other AS resorts?

Thanks a bunch!

Re: All Star Sports vs. Pop Century

All of the All Stars share one bus. Pop Century is the only value resort that has it's own bus come there.

No difference in price per room but if you prefer not to be crammed in the bus and/or standing room only then I would say go for Pop Century. If you have smaller children then go for AS Movies. More in line with the kids under 10 group than Pop Century in my opinion.

I think PC, because its more new and the 3 themed pools and the no bus sharing and all the colorful buildings. too exciting

Re: All Star Sports vs. Pop Century

I am leaning towards PC too, basically b/c of the bus thing. But my DH might ask about sports. If that is where I have to stay to go on this trip, fine...but he might re think his position if the bus situation is dramatically different.

Thanks everyone...

Re: All Star Sports vs. Pop Century

The fact that PC is newer & has its own bus system is really appealing to me...

But at the same time, I think the All-Stars appeal to me more in theme. I never thought the bus service was bad when we were at Movies, and so I would have no problem staying at Sports over PC! I think I'm leaning towards staying at Sports next time we go.

Sports is the first to pick up/first to drop off on the busses I think. So that's a big plus!!

I would probably pick PC just because it is newer but you will probably be fine either way.

Re: All Star Sports vs. Pop Century

I haven't stayed at AS but we were at Pop a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Their food court is pretty big. They have several pools and kids pool play areas. The colors are great and they have a big disney store. I loved that they had their own bus system. We have stayed at OKW and CBR before and that burned me out on staying somewhere that had to make several stops. When you are hot and tired or when you are ready to get to the park it about drove me crazy to stop so many times before we could get where we were going. Also, we never had to wait more that 5-10 min for a bus. Once during the week we wanted to go to DTD from Epcot and we were told the fastest way was to go to OKW to get a bus to DTD and it took us 30 min once we were dropped off at OKW to get to DTD and it is really close to DTD. We were short on time and about didn't make it back to our room for our bus back to the airport. I think we could have went back to Pop and got there much faster. It still amazes me how long it takes to get anywhere. Plan at least 30 min more than you think it will take. One morning it took us at least an hour + to get to Chef Mickeys (Pop to Epcot to Monorail to another Monorail to the Contemp.). I would have never have thought it would take that long! Anyway, sorry to get off subject. We loved Pop and would stay there again! See if you can get a map of the resort online and go ahead and request the building you want so that maybe you won't have to walk so far from the bus stops and main area. The 60's building is right behind the main area but it cost more per night. We stayed in the 50's building off to the right side. I would request 50's building again! We stayed lagoon side and could see the fireworks (only the highest ones) at Epcot from our room (get the highest room you can for this). Good luck I know you'll have fun there!

Next time you have an ADR for chef Mickey's and you're staying at PC,don't go PC to Epcot;go PC to mK and get on the resort monorail. The Contemporary is the first stop after the MK.

Re: All Star Sports vs. Pop Century

Live and learn. Thanks for the tip. I was just thinking go to the closest monorail station and going from there. I didn't relize we would have to change monorails and when we were riding all the monorail drivers were switching shifts at each stop. Next time I'll know! Thanks for the tip!

Re: All Star Sports vs. Pop Century

We are taking our first Disney vacation the last week of September. My sons are ages 16 and 12 and they love sports. With that in mind and a budget of course we are staying at the All Star Sports Resort. I can't wait and I know they will love it.
