Magical Express Update (Jet Blue)

Yahoo! I just learned that "JetBlue Joins the Mouse". According to About.com: JetBlue has been added to Disney's Magical Express service. The complimentary service, offered throughout the 18-month anniversary celebration to guests of Walt Disney World resorts, takes care of guest baggage and transportation both to and from the airport.

Here's the link if you'd like to read it.

Sorry, I was told this about 2 weeks ago, but I forgot to post it. No word on Southwest yet though.

Re: Magical Express Update (Jet Blue)

I'm confused. I am flying Southwest in Oct. Does this mean I don't get the Magical Express service?

Re: Magical Express Update (Jet Blue)

Yes, anyone flying in to MCO can use DME no matter what airline. The only difference with SWA is you have to handle your own bags on your RETURN trip to the airport. We returned Saturday and flew SWA. Bell Services put our bags on the bus and an airline skycap took them off the bus, walked us to the elevator, and tagged them for us. Easy!

Re: Magical Express Update (Jet Blue)

Although I knew that we could still use ME even though our airline wasn't (yet) participating, I was really happy to hear that Jet Blue had joined because it will just be so much easier to not have to think about the luggage (especially since we are travelling with an infant this time.) We had already planned to use the service even if it just meant that only our transportation was covered. Sounds like a win-win!

Re: Magical Express Update (Jet Blue)

BE FOREWARNED. We flew Jet Blue out of Orlando on July 31 (one week after they joined). As we attempted to check our bags at the Yacht Club for our return, the ME person told us that Jet Blue's computers could not check us through. We then had the extra step of checking our remaining bags (they already had our carry-ons). That meant the waste of forty minutes & more tip $$ to the valets. Disappointing...

Re: Magical Express Update (Jet Blue)

So what I understand of this is that since we are flying SWA when we arrive in Orlando our bags will be taken care of. We don't have to claim them. They will be picked up and brought to our room. But when we leave we have to check them ourselves. If that is the case I can live with that. It's more than I have had before.

I am interested in the answer to this too--we are using SW for our trip.

Re: Magical Express Update (Jet Blue)

We didn't book our airfare yet (SW doesn't have Jan. 06 for sale yet) but plan on flying SW. I am curious how it works with them also. Thanks for all your help.

Re: Magical Express Update (Jet Blue)

If you are flying on an airline that is not included in the ME, then it works pretty much the same as flying normally. You check in for your flight, and then pick up any checked luggage when you arrive in Orlando. There will be a Magical Express desk near bagage claim, and you take your luggage over there, and go hop on your bus. Your stuff will appear in your room later on that day.

Going home, you can check your luggage in at the resort, but you must pick it back up at the airport, and take it yourself to the airline for check in.

Flying on an airline that works with Disney is a big plus, since you don't ever touch your luggage once you check in at your home airport, and on the way home, you can check in for your flight and everything at the resort.

That is exactly how it will work. We just got back and flew SWA. We used DME and it was easy. We curb checked our bags when we left and didn't see them again until we got back to our room that night when they were there waiting for us. It took less than 2 hours for our bags to show up in our room but since we weren't there at the time I don't know exactly how long it took. Bell Services loaded our bags on the bus when we left and a sky cap got our bags off teh bus when we got to MCO. It's couldn't have been easier.

We didn't have to claim our luggage in Olrando, we got the yellow luggage tags and didn't see it again until later when it showed up in our resort room.

So, with Southwest, and I would assume other airlines not on the plan, you didn't have to get them in Orlando? Disney got them for you? That isn't how I understood it.

Re: Magical Express Update (Jet Blue)

LOL

That's how it worked for us. We tagged our luggage and it was in our room after we checked in. The only difference is the return trip, our bags were on the coach with us instead of going on the baggage truck. It was easy and we didn't have to touch it, we just had to be there while it was being loaded and unloaded under the coach.
