AAA discounts

Anybody have any experience with AAA discounts?

Was hoping for general public discounts for January but it is not looking good since there have not been any for so long. I read that with AAA to expect a 15-20% discount on rack rates.

Thanks
Steve

Re: AAA discounts

We always seem to book our Disney trips through AAA and the rates are pretty reasonable. Usually anywhere between 10-20 percent off regular rates depending what time of year you are going. I hope everything works out for you!

Re: AAA discounts

Going in January and staying at Pop. Have to pay the $51 membership fee before I can see the discount I think.

Re: AAA discounts

Pop Century would be a 20% discount in January, saving you about $17 per night. I will leave the rest of the math up to you.

You can book AAA room only reservation through AAA, Disney themselves or any other Disney travel agents.

I would guess that in January, there will be some type of discount, most likely a continuation of the free dining deal that is available now for September. You might want to hold off your AAA purchase until you know what kind of discounts might be available. You can make the room only reservation without a AAA membership, you just need to show it when you check in.

Re: AAA discounts

I recommend calling Disney to book your reservations, and asking about the AAA discount. If they can't offer you anything that way, then try booking through AAA directly.

It seems like Disney is really cutting back on the AAA discounts they offer (they used to offer a discount on the Hoop-De-Doo and other extracurricular WDW activities, but those discounts aren't available anymore) but it can never hurt to ask. If you can't get a general public code, AAA is probably your next best bet. Good luck!

I book my room and MYW tickets with my local AAA travel agent. She went out of her way to get my the best price. The only thing not booked was my flight from MKE to MCO. This was cheaper online with Delta.

Re: AAA discounts

I have to pick up my mother from MCO on January 2nd,so we will be staying the night at PC. I looked at the aaa web site and the price for PC on that night is 61(or 62)dollars,down from 79 dollars(the rack rate).

Re: AAA discounts

Thanks for all the help. Hoping for codes, but am prepared to go another route. If I understand everybody I can:

Call Disney now and ask for lower AAA rates (currently I am booked for full price). I do not need AAA account number until check in.

If general public codes come out later this year, I can call back and use the general public code which cancels the AAA rate and never buy an AAA membership.

If no codes by Jan 1, I can buy the AAA and have the lower rate that I call for tonight.

Hope I understood that OK! Thanks for the help.

Re: AAA discounts

We booked for GF in Oct using AAA rates, have been waiting for something better (free dining wasn't available for Lagoon View at GF). So we just joined AAA this week, since we are going to be staying at another hotel that gives AAA discount. We already have saved on our AAA membership fee, and will be saving $470 for our Disney vacation. Good deal.

Re: AAA discounts

Called and booked the AAA rates. Saved almost $18 per room per night ($177) for the two rooms. New rate was just over $61 a night. If codes do not come out I will have to pay $51 for AAA membership before I leave. Even If I have to buy AAA I will have saved $126.

Re: AAA discounts

AAA is pretty nice to have anyway. We have it even though we did not use the discount for Disney. Roadside service is great, and you get lots of discounts other places too. I have used it at Lenscrafters, restaurants, etc. I just sent in our renewal.

Re: AAA discounts

I used my AAA card everywhere in Universal and got 10% off everything. It adds up.
