Port orleans Riverside

I am staying at Port orleans Riverside. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what section is the best to stay in. So its convenient to the main pool and the food court.

Re: Port orleans Riverside

We stayed in the Arcaidia House (spelling?) in Magnolia Bend. I thought it was close to about everything. Just a short walk across the bridges and Ole Man Island to get to the food court and a short distance to the bus stop.

Re: Port orleans Riverside

You can Google 1251 Dixie Dr., Orlando, FL 32830, click maps, then click satellite and get a great view of POR from above. YOu see the bridges, the pool area, and the river running between the rooms and the restaurant/main building. Gives you a great idea of where you will be, I guess you would have to know which building is which though don't you, hehehehe. Well, it's still a nice view of the area. We stay at POR often and will be there again at the end of the month. It's a great resort in my opinion. Have a great time!!

I'm so confused where to stay, the Bayu or the Mansions. They both looked really nice, but i think the Bayu maybe the closest to everything

Oh, yeah. Should have mentioned that Buildings 14, 15 and 16 are in the Alligator Bayou -- our fave section.

Re: Port orleans Riverside

This is good to know. We are staying at POR & POFQ in Dec., and I can't make up my mind about where to stay either. I am going to try the google search and see if it helps with my decision.

Hey lovey, you will absolutely love that Alligator Bayou section. It is so charming. Like I have said in another thread, it is like staying in a treehouse if you're lucky enough to get a room on the second floor. It is absolutely wonderful.
And yes, those buildings mentioned above are close to the food and pools, but lots of people from buildings further away walk by. I would not like that. I loved where building 28 was situated. It was quite a hike to pool and restaurant but that was part of my excercise routine.

I know you will love it there.

Re: Port orleans Riverside

One thing about Alligator Bayou is that after a day in the parks, a night at fireworks, you come home to your room, which feels like it is in the middle of the jungle! Wonderful!
As far as the decision about whether to stay at POR or POFQ, remember that you can use the facilities at both hotels -- but POR (Dixie Landings, doggoneit!) has a terrific full-service restaurant, as well as a first-rate food court and a beautiful lobby. The reason I mention that is because you MUST enjoy "Piano Bar Bob" in teh lobby at night! Not to be missed, and entirely free!!!
We really get a lot of use out of all aspects of POR -- including the fresh-baked cinnamon rolls for breakfast and the tossed-to-order Caesar salad at lunch. Oh, I almost forgot how great the poolside bar is! Once or twice, we take the launch over to POFQ for a dip in the dragon pool and some beignets...
Hope this helps! As you can tell, we are die-hard Dixie Landings (POR) fans!!!

Re: Port orleans Riverside

Hey, this was a great help, I'm going to call and request the bayu at building 14. I stayed at POFQ last year and I loved it, so this time i wanted to stay at POR. The only reason i wanted a room close to everything is that I'm pregnant and I have never been to Disney pregnant before, so this will be different for me and my 2 kids will be close to everything so I dont have to worry.

Re: Port orleans Riverside

We too have requested building 14 for our stay in December. We stayed there in 2003 and the location was wonderful!

My Dw and I went to wdw last time when she was pregnant and let me tell you even with a room close to everything you have to take it nice and slow.
At POR, Magnolia bend, or the mansions, are a lot closer than alligator bayou, the rustic "cabin types".
The way I remember it is the lobby is supposed to be the port and the city "magnolia bend" is close to port, where as the bayou is farther away.

Re: Port orleans Riverside

we like Alligator Bayou lodge 28 but 14 is closer and has great reviews usually. Personally though, we much prefer Magnolia bend and rather like the walk to the food court so don't mind being further away. Either way, it is a stunning resort and you will love it and be smitten forever...just like my family and I.
