Need opinions on Value Resorts

My husband and I usually stay at one of the DVC resorts but have a chance to go to DW for one night (10/21) and we're thinking of staying at either Sports All-Star or Pop Century but don't know very much about either one other than what I found in the FAQ section of this website.

I need your input on these resorts if you've stayed there such as are there preferred rooms to try to get; what are the rooms like (I've heard they are really, really small), etc.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Need opinions on Value Resorts

I agree that PC rooms are a wee bit smaller than the AS AM or AMu. At PC I stayed at the 50s section, but I felt like all the rooms were close to everything, and I liked all the pools selections there. Hope you have a great time wherever you decide to stay. Oh and at PC they give you little bottles of shampoo and soap. Not dispensers like All Stars.

Re: Need opinions on Value Resorts

We spent one night at Pop a couple of years ago and thought the rooms were small but we were coming form Shades of Green (HUGE rooms) and BCV so we had been spoiled. The room was very clean and nice--not a deluxe but it had that Disney feeling so I could deal with the small room.

Re: Need opinions on Value Resorts

The rooms are smaller, PC more than any IMO. But if you're just going to be there for one night - go for it! Save some $$. Have you checked AllEarsNet.com? They have pictures, reviews, etc - I think they also have dimensions.
I'm really looking into staying at ASMovies next year - loving the Fantasia part.

Re: Need opinions on Value Resorts

PC has smaller rooms, but they are newer. And it's just two of you.

PC has a better bus system to the park, and the other values tend to book in youth groups which can get a little loud.

I'd go for PC.

Re: Need opinions on Value Resorts

If it's only for one night, the size of the room probably won't matter much. The rooms at all the Values are indeed small, but we found them quite comfortable for 2 college-age girls. I'm a little more concerned when it's spouses sharing a bed because the beds are teeny...but I'd be so exhausted after a day at WDW it probably wouldn't matter!

Anyway, just babbling.

The Fantasia buildings at All-Star Movies have wonderful themes and a PRIME location! It would cost you a little extra per night, but I think it would be worth it if you're going to try to maximize your time while you are there.

Pop doesn't appeal to me as much as the All-Stars, but since it is newer I might think about staying there instead.

The Values all have a wonderful warm Disney feel, so no worries there! I was concerned after staying at a Deluxe on the trip before, but I loved Movies and would go back in a heartbeat!

Definitely check out pictures at www.allearsnet.com or www.suitedisney.com. They will help you get a feel what the rooms/resort features are like!!

Go for PC!! Ask for the 70's building 10. I stayed there with my mother for Night of Joy weekend and it was under a 4 minute walk to the buses and under a 5 minute walk to the food court. As for the size of the rooms,my mother and I are large people and we had no problem not bumping into each other and we spent a fair amount of time in the room. Also, the TV's are larger than the All-Stars.

I am a huge fan of PC ...we stayed there 3 times last year.. and as to the rooms being small ..well we were there with 2 teens and a great big EVC. We always requested the 90's .. we could see Epcot's Illuminations from there and a nice view of SSE

I would have to agree that the Fantasia buildings have wonderful themed rooms and a great location. From the Fantasia building it was a very, very short walk to the buses and to the food court. We are to large individuals and we had no problems in the room.

Harry Chapin once said, "Anywhere is a better place to be." I translate this to "Anywhere in WDW is a better place to be than Delaware."

To be able to go for even one day.... too cool. Have fun

Re: Need opinions on Value Resorts

We only tried the PC. We didn't like it. My problem was not the size of the rooms, but rather how uncomfortable the beds were. Combined with the noise from other rooms, I couldn't sleep at all.

Re: Need opinions on Value Resorts

We loved the brightness and fun atmosphere of POP. If you go for the price difference and the fun in mind you will like it. Obviously it's no Deluxe.

Re: Need opinions on Value Resorts

I have stayed at both music and movies, but not sports. I would definately try and get movies over sports...better theme, newer etc. I would also pay the extra $10 to get the preferred room. The preferred rooms are right in the front and near the central of things...worth every cent if you ask me.

Re: Need opinions on Value Resorts

Where to begin where to begin..........instead of making this post much longer than it need be..i'll say this:
POP vs. AS
POP is: cleaner, new, BIGGER, in the busy seasons the bus lines are giganormus, the bus queues are always farthest away from the park entrance, the walls are thin (if a baby is crying in the next room--you'll hear it) the TV is larger, the beds are harder
ASMO: Is a little older, smaller TV, lots of youth groups, cheerleader groups, etc., 'everyman for himself' at the bus queues (not bad in january when we were there--wouldnt want to see it in the busy season, shares buses with ALL AS resorts, cast members act like they were sent there to die
THEY BOTH ARE: small yes, but for one night and two adults you'll be fine, dave and i stayed nine nights at POP and we never felt cramped...unless you're going to be doing a lot of Yoga-laties or dirty dancing, you should be fine...
