Another Ft. Wilderness Question

I just need to clarify this. I was under the impression that once you had set up your camp, if you wanted to use your vehicle at all during your trip, it had to be parked at the Reception Outpost parking lot. Until the end of your trip you would have to rely on FW buses or golf carts/bikes to get to your vehicle at the parking lot.

But I just read on another forum--that shall not be named--that you can park at your campsite and drive to the parks, etc throughout your stay.

Can anyone in-the-know verify this?

Re: Another Ft. Wilderness Question

We stayed at a cabin in July and we were allowed one vehicle at the cabin. We drove to most of the parks. Since I have an AP and have free parking at the parks, it was much easier to just drive to the parks rather than wait on the buses. I beleive there were also vehicles parked at the campsites also.

Well, I'm glad for you, Cavey. I'd want my vehicle as close as possible. I thought I read on one of those links I gave you, that you can have one vehicle at your site, too.

Re: Another Ft. Wilderness Question

Just stayed at a cabin this spring and we were allowed to have ONE vehicle at the camp site. There really isn't any room for another one. We had about 18 people visit us for a birthday party and i had to shuttle everyone from the parking lot near the horse area. It really wasn't too bad just took time.

Re: Another Ft. Wilderness Question

Okay, FIRST the other forum only discusses FW. SECOND, Erin was the one who gave me the link a few months ago. She even posted it on DC.

Finally, there is a difference between being allowed to park one vehicle at your campsite and being able to USE that vehicle during your stay. (I honestly was under the impression that you could use your car to move in/move out.)

Re: Another Ft. Wilderness Question

Well of course you can use your car on disney property. The only thing they ask is that you dont park it on the grass and that you always be careful when going thru the camp loops, cause there are always kids running around.

Re: Another Ft. Wilderness Question

We used our car a lot every day with no problems. Feel free to drive anywhere you want. We drove to all the parks. We thought it was faster. The only time we didn't is for the MK. We took the boat.

That would be our plan. Judging by the Unofficial Guides travel times, it's at least twice as fast to go by car to everywhere, but MK.

I mean Epcot by bus is 55-73 minutes! But only 18-23 minutes by car, including the tram ride to the gate.

Driving's a no brainer. I was just afraid we'd have to add to the travel time use of the FW internal buses.

Re: Another Ft. Wilderness Question

All previous years we used the buses and this was the first time we didn't. The kids, not so kid anymore, 27 & 23, said it took some of the Disney away using the car. I say Use The Car....The trams to the parking lots are very quick. It's amazing how fast we get out of the park even at closing time when hords or people are leaving. At first glance it seems like leaving a Browns football game suggesting we will be stuck for hours. BUT ONLY MINUTES... Have fun and enjoy.
