POR check in and more
14 Days and counting to our very first WDW trip!!! Getting excited and nervous all at the same time. We will be arriving around 11am and taking ME to POR. Does anyone know if an early check in will be a problem. Also, if we are able to, any opinions as to what area to request a room, read through the threads and there are varying opinions. We will not have a car and have 2 children (7 & 8) with us. They will definitely be excited for the pool but we want to be conveniently located near transportation. Our son is visually impaired---he can navigate rather well but has never stayed in a hotel before. Any advice appreciated.

Closest to the pool, busses and main building are buildings 14 and 15. But you are talking to a Dopey here who does not mind being away from things or walking a bit. We were on the second floor in the Alligator Bayou section, building 28. Located behind 14 and 15. So it was quite a hike to the pool and main building but I love walking and feeling alone. I would say it is a less than 10 minute walk to pool and restaurants from building 28. And there is lots to see along the way. Early check in, like in any hotel anywhere, really depends on how busy a place is, was the room rented the night before, etc. You can just check in without taking possession of the room until later and leave all your luggage with bell service. Take the boat to Downtown Disney and have lunch at the Earl of Sandwich, go shopping and then head over to the pool and enjoy your first day. Oh, how I wish right now that my name was 'kylsha'. I wish you a great time and loads of fun watching your kids see it all for the first time.

Re: POR check in and more
First time? Oh wow! You are going to be in love with the place as soon as you land on property. I have no recomendations for POR. I haven't ever stayed there, but agree with Dopey. You can check in upon arrival but your room may not be ready. Wrose thing that will happen is you may have to wait an hour or two....no biggie when it's your first time and you are anxious to check everything out. Don't hesitate to tell them at check in of your son's disability and ask that you have a closer room due to it. I can't see that being an issue. Disney CM are very considerate to those sorts of things. I hope you all have a great trip.

Re: POR check in and more
Early check-in will be no problem, but you may not be able to get into your room until after 3:00. I suggest staying in Alligator Bayou, building 14. It's the closest to dining, transportation, and the main lobby, and it's not too far a walk from the main pool and a quiet pool.
POR is a lovely resort--enjoy!

Re: POR check in and more
kylsha -- POR is our favorite. We stay there often, and we love it more each time! Ask for Building 14, 15 or 16 in the Alligator Bayou section. You can have a trundle bed if you like, and they are close to food, pool, and buses!
Have a wonderful time!
