No moderate or deluxe rooms!

I cant believe it! Last week I got the bug to go to disney at christmastime. I got rates friday and over the weekend found out who wanted to join us. I called AAA for reservations, they call back saying all that was available was All-Star Sports resort. Totally disappointed! We really wanted a moderate. I told her to book All-Star and am waiting now to hear back if we got the rooms or not (we need 4). it is for Dec 2nd weekend. Is that the Cheerleading weekend ?? I bet with my luck it it.

Oh well..fingers crossed for the rooms!

Re: No moderate or deluxe rooms!

I believe that is the weekend they film the Christmas Parade? Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't that about the time they did it last year.

Re: No moderate or deluxe rooms!

I am pretty sure that AAA is limited on the number of rooms they get. Try going on-line and see if you can book with Disney directly. I ran into this a couple of years ago when we wanted to use our AAA discount.

Good Luck,
harry

Re: No moderate or deluxe rooms!

Harry is right, Disney only sets aside a certain number or rooms for each discount offered. Call WDW and see if there are any rooms available at rack rate.

Re: No moderate or deluxe rooms!

Please don't shoot the messenger, but you are right, the cheerleaders are in town.

I looked at the calendar at DWWOS--Dec 3-4 is a golf tourney and something called 'X factor Junior Tour', and the its the week (4th - 10th) of the cheer and dance competitions and the Pop Warner Superbowl I think MouseFest is that weekend as well and may be part of the reason you're having trouble with the room.

Good luck CaraMia

Re: No moderate or deluxe rooms!

I called disney directly. Confirmed...everything is booked. We got the rooms at the All-Star Resort <ick>. We will be at the parks mainly during the golf tournament time so maybe it wont be as crowded as we anticipate. We arent even 100% sure we are going. We wanted to go to see MGM Osborne Lights mainly. I booked the rooms in hope that we are able to go. If not we will cancel in time to get our deposit back.

We are going October 21st....if DS doesnt have a good time then we definitely wont be going back in December. 3.5 yrs old and he dislikes the rides. Cant be my kid!!! Dh and I are such disney lovers. Cant believe he doesnt like rides! He does like the characters though and browsing through gift shops. And playing in toontown. I keep hoping this will be the trip he decides he wants to go on the rides. He went on them until he turned 2.5 yrs old. Then he went on strike. What 3.5 yr old can resist Buzz??? <shakingheadbacknforth> I dont understand it...lol

Re: No moderate or deluxe rooms!

They are absolutely right about AAA. They will insist that there are no rooms if they don't have any of their allotted rooms left. Try booking a room on your own or through an Earmarked travel agent (the moderator Mickey here is one). I'm sure there's something left.

Re: No moderate or deluxe rooms!

Ahh, a triple sports weekend, plus Mousefest, that would explain it! On the plus side, the parks should not be too crowded during the day, lol. And remember the rooms are just to sleep in anyhow!

Re: No moderate or deluxe rooms!

Is it possible for you to try the weekend after. With all the things that are going on that weekend, it may be a good idea to try another one anyway. ASsports will be cheerleader central.. bring your pom poms.

OM! I love watching their competitions on TV, but don't think I'd enjoy hearing them at 6am....I'd have a cheer of my own for them that would have to be censored for language...lol

Re: No moderate or deluxe rooms!

We have stayed at All Star during the cheer-a-thon thing. It wasnt too bad . They are a little annoying but we dealt with it. We were at MagicKingdom while they did their thing at MGM. However, into the afternoon you could tell when MGM must have cleared out because then there were tons of cheerleaders all over MK. I just hope the parks arent overly crowded.

Re: No moderate or deluxe rooms!

Ok, I am nervous now....my DS' football coaches keep saying we will be in WDW for the Pop Warner Finals. Right now they are 5-0 and a few of the coaches already put in for that weekend off from work. We don't know what to do....book a room or wait and see what the outcome is, then book. It would be nice just to book the room and go either way, but we have no time left to take off from work. What to do?!?!
