Transportation options for POR

We are thinking of staying at POR on our next visit. Does this resort have bus transportation to get you around as well as the boat option as well? I looked at a map on allearsnet but couldn't figure this out? Old age is setting in and my eye site isn't what it use to be, lol.

Re: Transportation options for POR

Seriously, is a bus really the way to go to all the parks? I can see why it would be the way to go for MK (it takes you all the way there, right? And not just to the TTC?) but is there a reason not to drive my own car from POR to the other parks?

Um....the price of gas???!!!!
No really, I just like to let them do the driving. We have stayed at POR twice and have never had a problem with the bus system. Yes, they do take you directly to MK..not just the TTC.

Re: Transportation options for POR

We used the busses to all the parks exclusively last November and it was fantastic. Never more than a 10 minute wait, the busses drop you right at the parks. That's the way to go. I am a big supporter of conservation, and Disney really does make it easy!

We take the Disney buses everywhere and have great luck. I just like leaving the real world behind, driving it part of the real world for me.

Last November they ran every 20 mins to 1/2 hour. Really regularly between 11 am and 1 am.
And it is such a fun thing to do--taking the boat. We did....a lot!

Re: Transportation options for POR

I stay at POR every time I go. I was there in Aug and Sept of this year. The bus schedule to all the parks was terrific. There are four bus stops throughout the resort which seem to be well situated for where ever you want to stay in the resort. You can catch the boat to downtown Disney. I always do this at least once every trip as I love the boat ride.

Re: Transportation options for POR

The first eight years we drove to the parks, the past 5 years we taken the buses. POR may be farther away than the monorail resorts but we found it to be the best place to get to any of the parks fast. The only times that I can think of that a car might had been faster was once to Animal Kingdom, but that was because we had to stop for construction on the bridge at POR.

Re: Transportation options for POR

just got back from wdw and stayed at the por. our family of 5 did taxis most of the time and it was worth it. the average taxi fare was $12 one way and the most was $18. we did do the bus about 5x's on the way back from places. but used the taxi from por to parks etc. we wanted to maximize our time and not waste any time on buses. best thing we did. hope you have fun. cant wait to go again next year.

I can understand not wanting to waste time, but the fact is that from the POR you have busses every 5 minutes and the drive to the parks is sooooo short.
