Went to Food & Wine

Hi,
Just got back this afternoon from 3 days at Disney, at the Food & Wine festival. It's a blast. Seems to me that there are more booths this year. Really didn't eat anything I didn't like and wouldn't order again. Sometimes you just need to get past names-like pigeon peas.

Just happened to stumble on a Food Network taping of a Pastry competition in Epcot. Pretty cool.

The Festival store in Innoventions has a bunch of wines, beers, etc that are featured at the booths. If you like something, you can take an entire bottle home with you.

They have the standard shirts, hats, etc, but I didn't see the art work that has been so prominent the past 2 years. They do have a new poster, but we didn't see the artwork that was in the festival store last year, and around Morocco in '03.

The parks seemed crowded at times, and at times I wonder if anyone goes to school anymore?? Seemed like summer with all the kids there. And it was stroller heaven. One could find a sea of strollers from the front door of the land all the way back to where the monorail goes overhead. Soarin is still the big attraction. I've not seen the Land this packed in years. It was good to see. Listen to the Land or is it Livin with the Land had a 30 minute Stand by line.

All and all, a great time again at Disney. Can't wait until December to visit at the Holidays, and I'm already planning for Food & Wine '06<g>.

No, but the chef at Flying Fish kept laughing at us. That nite we sat at the bar right in front of the kitchen. You could talk to the chefs. There is a transparent divider infront of the grill, but on the sides the kitchen is totally open. The one chef in front of us was preparing fish dishes, risotto, etc and I'd whisper to Cheryl, "well Alton, looks like he's preparing, yadda, yadda." The chef kept chuckling at us. Nice guy. He'd explain what he was doing. It was a fun time.

Last year we went on a Friday and Saturday. Weekend days are usually really packed. We noticed that there were very little lines on Mon-Wed this week. Longest line was in Italy and we were 5th in line there. Most of the time we just walked up. Lots of kids though. And they were eating at McDonalds--no kidding. And in the Land. I was really surprised at how packed the Sunshine Seasons was.
But it was a lot of fun, and great food too. Can't wait for F&W '06 <g>.

Re: Went to Food & Wine

My sister and I just got back from a week in Orlando. She came in from CA to go to the Food and Wine Festival. If you get a chance...go the "Sweet Sunday". The chef was wonderful and so were the three deserts that he made. It also included a light breakfast and three wines to compliment the deserts. What a Sunday brunch. I understand that the luncheon is just as great.

We also went to the "Eat to the Beat" and "Party of the Senses". I could do without the 60 year old rock stars but the "Party" was wonderful. This is the third time we have gone and each time it gets better. There were more chefs, more wines and better entertainment then in the past several years.

We also took in "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party". It was nice but the Florida rainstorms took over so we didn't get to enjoy the whole evening. The parade was cute. This is a really great attraction for anyone with kids.

Can't wait...going on a 7-day Disney Cruise in December. We also plan to take in the holiday shows.

Glad you had a good time. My DH & I were supposed to go by ourselves but that fell through. I hope we can make it next year! Sounds like it was something we would have enjoyed.

Re: Went to Food & Wine

We just gaot back this from a long weekend trip also to The Food and Wine Festival. I thought the crowds were very managable. It just depends where you are and at what time, and with many years of knowledge, knowing where and when to vist the parks and the attractions. With all that said, we lucked out and had a blast! NO MORE TURKISH WINE!!!!!
