POR Opinions anyone?
Will be staying at POR next fall. Just got back on the 30th of last month from my first ever Disney trip. We stayed at All Star Sports Resort, really loved the place and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Next year we will have 5 members going instead of just 4 so we need the extra trundle bed that you can get at POR. So who has stayed there and loved it or thought it wasn't so great??? I have looked at the photo gallery of this resort tht allears has to offer and I have to say that I am impressed so far.

Re: POR Opinions anyone?
I am really not sure how many buildings there are to choose from ..but when we stayed in alligator bayou, it seemed like we were a long way from the bus stop, food court, lobby (and I didnt use the laundrmat back then) main pool and I do not remember any small pools near by..and alligator bayou I believe are the only buildings that do have the trundle beds. The we were in Magnolia Bend ( I think that was it ..it was something Magnolia) and it was a very short walk to everything. we were right across the river from the Lobby, foodcourt and main pool. there was a pool with laundry on each side of the building we were in.

Re: POR Opinions anyone?
There is also a map of the entire resort you can look at on www.allearsnet.com
I have never stayed at POR either, but I will be in December, mostly because of all the good things people on this site have said about the resort.

Re: POR Opinions anyone?
I was just cruising the allearsnet website. I found out that the trundle bed is for kids under the age of 9 who are also under 5 feet tall. We are taking my son's girlfriend along this time. So the kids' ages are 17,16, and 13. The deluxe resorts can accomodate us but are a little out of my price range. So I will probably reserve 2 rooms at the All Star Sports. Does anyone know how this works? Each room has to be reserved under an adult's name right? Or will anything be said if I do book a room at POR even though the kids' age are over 9? Sticky situation I guess.

Re: POR Opinions anyone?
it's fantastic! We have stayed there twice now and hopefully will be back to stay in April 06. The first time we stayed there we were in the more 'rustic' huckleberry finn type rooms ( Alligator Bayou) and found these lovely. We had my brother and my mum in law with us on that vacation ....very cosy!
so we requested one of the trundle beds in our room. This was great and infact my mum in law slept in it! She is quite small but she didn't mind and found it very comfortable. We stayed in Lodge 28, which was close to the main ameneties but also nice and quiet. We had a bus stop very close to the accomodation and also one of the quiet pools. The second time we stayed we were in the 'grander' style ( Magnolia bend ) and I must admit these rooms and location were just that much nicer. We were on the top floor and overlooked a beautiful garden and fountain. It was not too far to walk to the main lobby and reception either, again a bus stop very near. This resort is stunning. I cannot find fault with it at all and will remain a loyal visitor to POR for as long as I breathe! YEAH POR!!!!!!!

If you get two rooms in a value resort you'll have two bathrooms and a lot of extra space. With three teenagers I would think getting two rooms would be a wise decision, IMHO. |

Re: POR Opinions anyone?
I have not stayed at POR, but I have visited it and it is absolutely at the top of my list! I just adore it, and can't wait to stay there! (This applies to POFQ too...)
But based on the ages of people in your group, I would definitely think about getting 2 rooms at a Value instead. You will really appreciate the room to stretch out. DH and I are thinking ahead to taking my side of the family to WDW next year, and we were considering POR so that all five of us could fit (me, DH, Mom, Dad & my little sis who is 13). But we decided that would just be too much...after all, my little sister is even taller than I am and I'm not so sure she could fit on that trundle bed! ![]() If a Deluxe room like the Poly is out of the question, I would definitely recommend looking at getting 2 Value rooms instead. Much less crankiness by the end of the trip! ![]()
