Disney Connoisseurs, Afficionados, & Gastronomes, Who Are Also Entrepreneurs: Help!
I could use a little mastermind help from folks here who are entrepreneurs. I'm in the beginning stages of planning an event for the entrepreneurial association I run at Walt Disney World. It must have an educational component with direct application to a person's business. I got the idea since I often go to WDW purely for the inspiration. Obvious themes would be service, creativity, the power of dreams, etc.
Here's what I'm looking for from this community-- especially those of you with event planning experience and/or especially experience with Disney events: 1. What kind of event would you do for such an association? 2. Which WDW resort would you host it at? 3. Which activities and/or tours would you include or avoid? 4. How much free time would you schedule? 5. General itinery suggestions and recommendations to the registrants (especially those with limited or no WDW experience)? Thank in advance everyone for your help with this.

Is the event going to last days? If so, you should book everyone into CSR. That way you can utilize and have easy access to their convention areas. I am not sure about a theme...I'm a little confused as to what exactly you do or are talking about. A Fantasmic! dessert party would be a cool thing for your group as well as the sunrise safari with dinner. If you give me a little more details about exactly what you do, I could probally come up with something better.

Thanks and sure-- here's the mission of our organization: to be the premier entrepreneurial association in the world creating an environment for business and personal excellence, quality of life, and financial independence through education, personal growth, and the mutual assistance and support of a like-minded community.
The WCRT achieves its mission in a systematic way through our monthly general meetings The First Thursday of each Month at 7pm at the Carleton Hotel, Oak Park, IL; at local WCRT Subgroup meetings in a variety of locations; on our online forums, our learning library, and via our print and online newsletter and other special events held throughout the year. This would be one of those "special events". To give you a little background-- we're gearing up to produce a product called "Being Extraordinary in an Ordinary World" featuring stories, interviews, facts, tips, tidbits, and pointers from the lives of excellent human beings such as Walt Disney, Herb Kelleher, Fred Smith, and many others. So, this event would tie into that quite well.

How big of a group? I'm thinking of maybe reserving the terrace in EPCOT by Italy or by the Intenational Gate for a private function for Illuminations., If a smaller group, try the Illuminations cruise.
From the description you mentioned, still unclear of the whole idea, but I thought of Saratoga Springs.

After looking at www.disneymeetings.com (Didn't know they had that) and speaking with AJ in events, I'm leaning towards the Contemporary. We're looking at the first three private tours mentioned here:
