Has the threat of this Hurricane caused anyone to change their WDW plans? I am freaking out!!!! We are leaving thurs night for WDW (MNSSHP fri night) and leave for the 4 day cruise on Sunday. Has Disney ever cancelled a cruise? I'm having a hard time getting excited for my trip right now!!!

Re: Change plans cuz of Wilma?
I didn't even think about changing my plans and hope that wilma is history by the time I leave on the 26th. As for your cruise, I don't know what you should do. I think that Disney would cancel it if they thought that it was going to be a threat to the cruise ship. I really don't see wilma hitting WDW....but maybe that's just wishful thinking. I hope that you still get to go and wilma goes elsewhere.

Re: Change plans cuz of Wilma?
I'm afraid to say it may be too early to tell. I know you want answers NOW, I've been in this same situation. Having lived in SoFla for 12 years definately makes me understand the frustrations of hurricane and tropical storm predicting. My wedding was almost threatened by a storm, after a year of planning! Do you have travel insurance? I wouldn't worry too much honestly, just keep in good contact with Disney and watch the Weather Channel periodically. These sort of storms are REALLY strange & change at the drop of a dime. By Sunday it could be nothing more than a breeze and a rain shower. It could still also go elsewhere. Just keep an eye out, you'll be fine. I was staying at AKL during a tropical storm btw, but we still had a blast and it was over in hours!!

Re: Change plans cuz of Wilma?
I'm going to MNSSHP this Friday too ssn - I know how you feel!
I just called WDW. The CM said that as of now Disney doesn't have plans to close the parks or anything because of the storm, but he said I should try calling closer to Friday to be sure. He also said Disney would do some kind of reimbursement for the tickets but *ONLY* if the parks are closed due to the weather. I don't know what to do either. I guess I'll hold out for a little longer... Hope everything works out for you ssn! :(

I wouldn't stress out. Just go. If things fall apart, you may find an unique adventure in it all!

Re: Change plans cuz of Wilma?
Most cruises try to leave the port with out cancelling the cruise. The ship will steer away from the storms. The bad part is that they can find the good weather, but it might impact Cast-a-way Cay. Last time we where there, the island was closed just before our cruise, but opened for us with some heavy duty work going on.
We were at WDW during Andrew and had to sleep at the Hoop de doo revue theater (we were camping at that time). The parks rarely close, but if they do and you are in a WDW resort - plan on the CM's to promote fun. Den

Re: Change plans cuz of Wilma?
I am trying to convince Dh we should still go as planned. If seems we may not get the storm until sunday night so we can leave sunday morning and be back home before it gets nasty out ( 3 hr drive from Orlando to our house).

Re: Change plans cuz of Wilma?
now it is coming monday morning. I am thinking this is ending up the same as hurricane frances last year. Just two days with a lot of rain and some wind. Hurricane Charley on the other hand was horrible. Never been that scared in my whole life..

Re: Change plans cuz of Wilma?
We are leaving MKE as planned on Saturday morning. We should get into MCO before this hits. Once we are on site, let the fun times begin. I live in Wisconsin, never been even close to a hurricane, this will be a story for the grand kids someday.
Look at it this way, a rainy windy day is much better than working on ANY day!!!

Re: Change plans cuz of Wilma?
I would definately go ahead with your plans. Last I heard from local TV stations was that we are probably only going to get some heavy rain, but then again hurricanes are predictable, so don't let you guard down too and just keep watching.
