Convention?

Dana this is for you...seeing as you have just said you only need 8 posts to get to 10k!...naughty I know but it is legitimate I promise!

My DH annually goes to a Convention run by the Queen fan club ( that's the band...not our Royal family!

) and has an absolute blast meeting up with old friends, meeting new friends etc. We were just talking about it a few moments ago and wondered why us at DC have never organised such an event? I am sure it would be hard work but how great would it be to get as many of us together at one time? What do you think?

Thanks Ariel...no, it's not cheating if I can actually answer the question

There was a DC meet a few years ago...in december I believe while back when it was a different group of people (some are the same). I didn't go to that one...decemeber is a no no month for travel for me..(reatail manager). We tried to get one together for the first week in October, but it died off and nothing ever came of it. I now there is a bunch of Dcers trying to get a holiday meet together...I won't be able to do that one either. Perhaps next october?

That would be so fun! I agree though, it's hard for to travel any times that children are in school, I would try my hardest to be there though.

Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I'm just not ready to join a Queen fan club.

Hey! I heard a Queen song the other day!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee are the Champions, my fri-end.

We'll keep on (insert high pitched voice) fighting (/highpitched voice) tell the end....

Ariel - there are a few of us who are always up for a meet and greet, but they do seem to die quickly.

However, there is one organized by all the Disney fans out there called Mousefest.
Do a search, I think DisneyCentral has an event planned!

I would like to begin by saying, I like school. School is important. But here's the breakdown:

1. Our faith
2. Our family
3. Our service to others
4. Our work

I guess that's why I became an entrepreneur in the first place. Seems like school, which later in life becomes work, is always taking up the number one slot. I regard it as trespassing there!

School is important, as I've said-- but school can wait. Do we really want to teach our kids that work comes first? You don't want to have them think they can just goof off whenever they please (though, we do that alot now since we have our own business). We don't want to teach them that the time and money come easy. They need to meet their obligations. However, there's a time to cut loose.

I said all that to say this: I'd do this if it ever got off the ground!

....I do agree with you though, sometimes on that rare occasion, we all need to get a reality check and really enjoy life and all we have around us and in each other.

DC is such a massive undertaking. Kudos to those that make it happen!

I see a "gathering" as an astronomical task BUT we all overlap our travels to Disney and we owe it to each other to make every effort to meet when we are able at the parks. I don't know why its not done more.

Be it a night skampering across Pleasure Island or a quick hello and photo on Main St. Its a way of bringing it all together.

I'll be there in June! Who's with me!? I prefer drinking like a big kid at Pleasure Island since I'll have a babysitter onsite!

Yup, Mousefest will be celebrating it's third anniversary this year. The dates are November 30th thru Dec 8th. The big convention is on Saturday December 3rd at the Dolphin, in one of the banquet rooms. Several of the Disney fan websites will be represented, including DC! Many of the well known guidebook authors will be there, as well as the hosts of the other Disney websites we all use, like Deb Wills of allearsnet.
There are many contests, games and events planned for that week.

OMG! I just noticed that I'm in one of the pictures on the MF calendar! The picture of "Folks gathering at Mega Mouse Meet 2004" that's me in the turquoise top and white pants!

OK, Let's Git-r-Done!!! First thing is first, we need to pick a date. It really doesn't matter when, though I'd say we might consider skipping Hurricane season altogether.

My favorite times to visit are

September (whole month), October-- near Halloween,

December,

and the end of February (President's Week).

The nice thing about Sep, Oct, and end of Feb is that it'll be warm enough to get into the water (generally speaking).

I'm from Chicago, so it's kinda fun to travel to a warm place while it's still cold here. Keep in mind any date we pick will be bad for someone, so I guess where we really begin is making the committment. Let's commit to doing this. Then, if we make it far enough out-- say, 2007-- then there really are no excuses.

Let's rock-n-roll-- who's with me?
