BCV - my impressions.

I spent the 1st week of Dec at BCV, which is one of my home resorts. I bought there primarily for the location. We really enjoy the whole Boardwalk area and being able to walk to EPCOT and MGM. Being relatively new to DVC, about 2 years, I have stayed at BWV and OKW and will compare BCV to them.
Like BWV, there is more of a hotel feel but our location (We were in room 548) gave us a fair amount of privacy. We saw people in the hall on our floor no more than 3 times in the 6 days. Our room had a direct view to Spaceship Earth so by looking to our right from the balcony we had a great view of Illuminations. We could see everything but the globe, although we could just see the top of it as it moved toward the center of the Lagoon. The rooms on the wing starting with #551 looked directly at Illuminations. As you go down each floor obviously you would see less and less.
You do overlook a service road from those rooms but we hardly noticed the traffic.
Our room was a fair walk from the elevators which meant the lobby, restaurants, pools and bus stop were not as convenient, but since we had no children and enjoy walking, it was no problem for us. I guess it added to the privacy.
The room itself felt just like BWV, with only the bathroom layout slightly different. Not nearly as large as an OKW 1 bedroom, but with only 2 of us there was more than enough room. Only 2 minor negatives with the room: the water pressure in the shower was low, which I have heard before, and there are many different size balconies, some of which are very small.
The bus service while we were there was excellent, 5-10 minute wait tops. The convenience store was well stocked.
I think it is a toss-up between BCV & BWV. BCV felt a little more private while BWV was a little more convenient to the amenities.
We enjoyed staying at both and will be back to both.
If anyone has more specific questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

Thanks so much for the info Graybill. We'll be staying there in August & are getting a studio. So I'm assuming you suggest anything on the 5th floor with a number higher than 551?

BCV - my impressions.

ilvminnie,

The room numbering is a little strange on that wing. I walked part of the hall and it appeared that 551, 553 and 555 were rooms with direct EPCOT views, but the sequence didn't seem to follow after that. I would definately ask when making your room request.

Since our room was 548, I assumed that any even numbered room higher than that would have the EPCOT views. When by chance I walked the hall farther one day I noticed the change to odd numbers. I really should have checked farther down the hall but everyone else was anxious to get moving.

Good luck with your room request and I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

One more question Graybill...should have thought of this first time around. Are those rooms all non-smoking?

BCV - my impressions.

When I book a room I automatically ask for non-smoking, so ours was. I just do this out of habit and don't even remember if anything was mentioned if all were non-smoking.
When in doubt, I guess it's always best to ask. I did read a post somewhere that mentioned ending up with a smoking room because they did not request non-smoking early enough. I'm not sure which resort it was.
Sorry I can't be more specific.

Thanks again Graybill. I've already requested a non-smoking room due to the fact that my husband has really bad allergies. I usually wait a little bit to request a specific room view though until I've had time to check things out.
