Polynesian....or Wilderness Lodge?
If all goes according to plan, I may be getting married in September 2003 and definitely plan to honeymoon in Walt Disney World. I'd like to hear some opinions on whether Wilderness Lodge or the Polynesian would be the better choice of the two places I've narrowed it down to. I'd choose Wilderness Lodge because I've stayed there before and it's a great resort. But I'd choose the Poly because it's on the monorail line and because I've never had the opportunity to stay there. Any helpful thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've never stayed at either, only visited. I love the romantic and somewhat sexy atmosphere at the Polynesian, if I were doing a honeymoon there. Wilderness Lodge is lovely and secluded, but seems a tad bit too clean cut. I don't know if I'm explaining it right.

HI-
We just got back from Disney and split our stay between the AKL and the Polynesian, the one regret of our vacation is that we didn't spend the whole week at the Poly. We LOVED it-the monorail access, the pool, the theming. It was so great. There are many romantic areas at the resort also, the beach is lovely. I've never stayed at WL so I can't compare the 2 for you, but I can give the Poly 2 thumbs up!! Good luck!! Lauren:D

I would go with the "Poly" it has the best atmosphere for honeymooners. Also, check out http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/index.html[/url] this is a great site for the POLY.

Thanks, but all I get from going to the Tikiman site is "this page cannot be displayed". Any other suggestions?

I got that too. When you click on the link it brings over the comma afer the URL. After you get the error, edit out the comma in the address line and you're good to go from there :) Jenn |

I spent a week at the Poly this Thanksgiving. WOW! cool place. I am now officially spoiled with the monorail. It is so convenient for the MK and EPCOT.
My cousin got married the first weekend in November in Orlando. Their rehersal dinner was at the House of Blues, on the back porch. They actually got married at the Garden Grove Park, about 15 miles north of WDW. They spent their wedding night at the AKL on the savannah. They said that it was just great. They woke up to the animals on the savannah and said the rooms were just wonderful. This could be a new alternative for you. WL to me, seems to "stayed" for a honeymoon. You need something a little more.....free, open and inviting.

I spent my honeymoon in 2000 at the WL and loved it We had the honeymoon suite it had a huge bathtub for those romantic times and a huge kingsize bed Our view was awesome we saw the castle from our room and at night we saw the fireworks from the balcony it was also romantic to walk the grounds at night and go out to the boat dock( they have a boat that takes you to the Mk and just look out at the water and the Geyser My husband said that if we ever have a second honeymoon he wants to get the same honeymoon suite and stay there we loved it the hotel is my favorite so I vote for the WL definately we didnt even miss the monorail

I have only visited both, and if I were to be at one on my honeymoon, I would choose the Polynesian, it has a more romantic atmosphere. I know that I am just regurgitating information that you have heard before, but I agree with the others who have said it.

POLYNESIAN!!!!! It is such an awesome place! We were there in Sept. 2002 and had a garden view concierge room. If you can afford a little more per night... go with a concierge room. The staff are extremely helpful and will book all of your Priority Seatings for you (even the difficult to get ones) and the (FREE!!)lounge is open every day with breakfast, mid day snacks and an evening service you could make a meal out of (if you're not starving) plus evening cordials, wine and dessert. They stock the lounge with juice, water bottles, and canned soft drinks around the clock. It is so convenient to just walk down the hall and have a room with all of those things available and not to have to wait in line to pay for anything is great! The concierge rooms are in the Hawaii long house and is very conveniently located. The concierge water view rooms are right on the beach and oh so romantic! Additionally the concierge rooms have a mini frig, bath robes and nightly turn down service. Polynesian's atmosphere, location and monorail access make it an unbeatable choice.

The Polynesian is very romantic. We also went there for our honeymoon but that was some time ago. But we still go back and it gets better with age. You can't beat the view and the walks along the beach at sunset. Remember, you are on your honeymoon, so you will be spending more time at the resort then on your average vacation:love:. Upgrade to a lagoon view room because it doesn't get more romantic then that.:)

I have stayed at the WL on our honeymoon, and it was incredible. We had the honeymoon room and a spectacular view of space mountain.
We even had room service deliver us a "picnic" style dinner, even with a red checkered tablecloth for our bed. Though both hotels are incredible, my vote is for WL:D |

My vote is going to go for the Wilderness Lodge, while my family and I have visited the Polynesian Resort, we havent stayed there so maybe I am a little bias. We loved the themimg at the WL and although there is no monorail service, the boat access we found was excellent. The food court (Roaring Fork) was reasonably priced and the food was worth the money, we started almost every morning there. My teenagers loved the pool and the two hot tubs they had, as did I. Maybe that had something to do with the fact that there were some 'pretty hott' lifeguards (as I was informed :p ) also. But we found the pool area quite relaxing. We also took advantage of the gym while at the hotel and found that to be another plus. Well I hope this helps!
