Birthdays at WDW

Ok, here is another question for you guys!! My son will be turning 8 years old during our stay in June 2003. Do you know of any special things the resorts and the parks do to make it extra special for guests on their birthdays? :) :D :D

Get a birthday button from Guest Services at the park. (I got the kids theirs the night before their birthday so that they had it when they woke in the morning.

Ask a friendly CM to "Dial Goofy" for your son for his birthday message.

You can let your front desk know it's his birthday, but if I remember, you are staying at the All Stars? We've had sporadic luck at getting balloons delivered to the room, but they've always sent a card up to the room, signed by a favorite character.

If you are doing any character meal, that would be a great day to do it.

You don't know how much that little bit of advice helped me! We will be in WDW for my DD's 18th birthday (where did the time go?) and she wants to spend her actual day in MGM so we can do the character lunch at H&V. I was wondering if they had buttons at any of the parks other than MK, but your idea of getting it the night before so she can wear it as soon as we walk out of our room is awesome! You just made my day MickeyMac:!: :!: :!: :) :) :)

You just made my day
Well, you just made my night, ilvminnie (and put a huge smile on my face!)

18, huh? Can I make another recommendation? I was a volunteer Pixie for Jane at Gifts of a Lifetime in December, and she told me of some incredibly neat things she does for milestone birthdays - one thing she does is decorate a Guest's room while they are at a park for a day. She did (what sounded like) a gorgeous Tinkerbell room for a girl that day, at the Wilderness Lodge. I'm sounding like a commercial now, so I'll stop.

Goofygal - we were at Sports for each of our birthdays this year. Ranged from a huge bouquet of mylar mickeys to them forgetting my daughter's birthday alltogether.

Call or stop by the front desk and ask for balloons to be delivered the next day. They get overwhelmed there and sometimes there is translation issues with the Mousekeepers who actually deliver them.

Make your Mousekeeper your Best Friend. C'mon, say it with me: Best Friend. I found the best service came not from how much money I left in the room, but in getting to know the person behind the toilet brush. They are people too, and sometimes I think Guests forget about that. We got to know our Mousekeeper pretty well in July, and in December, when we lucked out and got him again and he recognized us (our third day in) he went all out in decorating and making our visit truly magical.

Finally, call the morning of his birthday before he wakes up, ask for the Goofy birthday call, and hang up. Let him answer the phone (I think they can push the call to the room)

OK, think I've burned a few brain cells in this thread, must be the Bailey's talking. Sheesh, what being snowbound does to a person... :D

On my sons 2nd BDay, we were at All Stars Music. We had spent that day at MGM, had a birthday ice cream cake at the SciFi and came back to the resort a few hours later. We wanted to grab a bedtime snack at the food court and we mentioned it was Brady's birthday and the next thing we knew, we had a cake and balloons and a group of cast members singing him Happy Birthday at our table. Such a sweet memory!!

That is awesome BDavis! We almost never eat at the Food Court, we are going to have to try that some time!

BTW - our first trip last year was for my husband's 40th. He turns 41 in two weeks, and says he wants to celebrate his 29th at Disney this year.... LOLOL! (and it begins again...)

How cool is that....

will a person wearing an "It's My Birthday" pin really get that much attention at a character meal? We've got three of those planned and a 6 year old turning 7 during our visit.

Yes, the characters are trained to look for the pins and do seem to make a big deal out of them.

Grownups can get the pins, and I got a card for my birthday, but no balloons. My husband, on the other hand, got a gorgeous boquet of mylar balloons. Maybe they thoguth he was cuter... :p

I'm so excited!!! I can't wait to celebrate my DS 8th bday at Disney!! After all the good ideas posted here, I know it will be a good one for him!!! I asked him if he'd rather have a bday party at home w/presents, or go to disney for his bday. He said "DISNEY WORLD!!" I've already started buying little things here and there to make my own suprise basket for him ( i will sneak in first to put it in the room so it will be there when we check in!) I've bought him a Guest Of Honor Badge (and one for myself since i'm a kid at heart and need one too!!:D )

We're going to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We love it there!! It will be a busy week, but it will be fun!! The only problem is i still have a really really long time to wait!!!:( :(

I'm so impatient, I may just go ahead and get the annual passes at tax time, and go for a day to one of the parks. Since we only live less than 2 hrs away, I think I may just have to do that!!!:D

I can't wait. My brother is January 25th. I'll be 19. And I've never spent my birthday at WDW and I'm so excited. I'm going to be on the WDW College Program, so I've got many new friends that want to celebrate it with me. I just want to get a pin, and get a picture with pluto (who I love more than anything). But I'll take a b-day while i'm at it.. hehe

I am already making plans to spend my 30th birthday next January at WDW. My boyfriend thinks I'm crazy, but he just doesn't understand this whole Disney obsession thing of mine...this from a man who got so many "Simpsons" related presents this past Christmas that he could open his own store :-).

I just sent off a questionnaire to find out what they suggest (& how much it will cost!). I'm also thinking of doing the b-day Illuminations cruise. There will be 8 of us, basically all adults with the youngest being 15. The $150 cruise says it will take 8. Does anyone have any experience with these cruises? Will that one be too crowded for all 8 of us? Should I pull out the crowbar & go for the $200 one for the extra room? Help:cry:
