Next WDW vacation...

This coming June my family and I are going to be going back to WDW It's getting harder to stay away for prolonged amounts of time lol

I just have a resort question, we won't be able to stay at a Deluxe resort and was wondering if any of you guys have had expierances at the POFQ or the AS resorts, we have never stayed at either and are curious of which would be better for us...two adults, two teenage girls and my 22 DS. We don't spend that much time in the room, but when we do we don't want to be too cramped.

Any advice??

How about a Fort Wilderness cabin. It sleeps 6 and has three separate rooms. There is no better parking as your car is about 15 feet from the door of your room. A boat ride to MK and its monorail connection or the bus system. Actually having your car right there will probably lead you to use your car to drive to each non monorail serviced park and other local attractions.

The facilities could change your trip to include many additional money saving opportunities.

I will be going in two weeks and plan to share the experiance of enjoying one of the brand new cabins with everyone here.

We stayed at Sports three times this past year. You would have to get two rooms, but I would think the teenagers would love their own room.

I like Phantom's idea, but thinking of the teens, I think they would love their own room.

Phantom, take loads of pictures - I would love to try a cabin if we get there this summer!

Phantom - I hadn't even thought of staying in the cabins, we will take that into consideration for sure. Thanks!

MickeyMac - Yes when we go we almost always get two rooms. I love the children dearly, but 14 and 16 y/o girls in the same room :dazed ..... we just give them to their brother, they listen to him more willingly lol

LOLOL - Phew!! My son had a friend over one night in December at Sports, and the two were driving me nuts at 12 years old!

Sports is very exciting for kids, just my opinion. The energy, the constant sensory input, the many teens around... I guess it depends on each family, but I would go for that. I very much like Phantom's suggestion, but you are literally in a small cabin. I like the personal space that having two rooms does for you. LOL!

As for POFQ, never been there, and it's completely lovely. We almost booked the Bayou rooms at PO, but didn't, mainly due to the pressure from the kids. *I* want to stay there. LOL!

And can I ask for tips on how to get daughter's to listen to their older brothers? Does he need to flatten her more or something? LOL!

The All Stars are all really cool. I would suggest the cabins if River Country was still there...:( :madmad

LOL! I don't know what my son's secret is. It could be that he is more intimidating than I am when it comes to enforcing rules. My 16 y/o is quite a defiant one...but he can give her a swift kick in her butt and she'll become an angel....for about the next half hour :laugh :laugh

DJB51769 - I too miss River Country :( I remember taking the kids there when they were younger...how time does fly

Stayed at the All Star sports many years ago...rooms are small and geez is that place loud! I too have to have 2 rooms, such a dilemma every time! Your teens would love it though! At 1 am I felt like I was at MTV spring break. There were a thousand teenagers at the pool, getting in trouble by cast members for removing bathing suit tops (we later found out that several teenage tour groups from Brazil were staying there). We lucked out though and were given a special upgrade to the Polynesian for only a little more per night for the remainder of our stay. I think I would look into something like the french quarter and avoid the all-stars.

My grandson and I stayed at Port of Orleans-French Quarter for Thanksgiving week,2002. We were the first bus stop and never had to stand! The pool and slide were great. It was very quiet and the teenagers might not like that. We were able to get our room at PO-FQ for only $84 a night because of a special. I much preferred it to PO-Riverside where I stayed in 98 because it wasn't spread out everywhere. My husband and I stayed at the All-Star Sports in '96 and he called it a Motel 8 with a Disney price because the room was so small. It was very noisy. There were kids playing basketball until 1 AM.

We stayed at the A/S Music, two adults and two kids. I think you'll need to book a second room with a connecting door inside.
There is no size difference between A/S and POFQ and you're only sleeping in your rooms. With my annual pass discount it only cost $49 per night, per room.
I highly suggest looking into getting A/P's.

GOOD LUCK! :D :D

I know that others have had "loud" experiences at All Stars, as have we, but let me offer two suggestions that have made a big difference for us!

1) Don't book near the pool. Cost extra because it is closer to everything, but too noisy.

2) Request a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor (3rd preferrably) This cuts down on the "walk-by" traffic, only the people staying on your floor and in your section will be walking by your door.

Toy Story in Movies was a very quiet area for us, as well as Mighty Ducks (quite a walk though). In Music, Calypso was quite, we stayed on the back side 2nd floor and Sports, we stayed in the back side 3rd floor of Surfs Up. In Movies, The Love Bug, 1st floor we stayed for one night, it was awful. We were UP for hours with the dreaded "T" word....(teenagers!!) Until we called the front desk....they took care of the noise for us.

Hope this helps!

I had both a good and bad experience at the All Stars. I paid extra:devil to stay close to the buses and food court(preferred room) and was kept up well past midnight. We were right by the pool. I, of course, had a migrane that night and the screaming and yelling and the 1 hour long game of Marco Polo didin't help. I had read in paper work we had been given at check in that after 10pm it was supposed to be quiet time at the pool, and midnight the pool closes. I tried to deal with it and wait for peace at midnight. It didn't come. I called the front desk and told them about the noise and how late it was. She was very rude to me and said there was nothing she could do about it. I was very upset! I couldn't believe a CM would have an attitiude w/me!!:devil She did finally say the only thing she could do was ask security to go down and ask them to quiet down. (she said this to me like it was the WORST thing in the world to be done!!) After about 1am it finally calmed down. The next night wasn't nearly as bad. So all that said...unless you want noise late into the night, ask for a room away from any pools. Our second stay we were away from the pools and had complete quiete and peace. No noise from other rooms, or rooms above. We were on the 1st floor!

Another time I was given a wrong room (a king instead of 2 doubles) I was told to wait in the room and someone would be there to exchange keys and show us to our new room. After 3 calls to the front and being told they were busy,(and 1 1/2 hrs later) I finally walked up to the desk and got the right key myself. Which I should have done from the start! Oh well, you live and learn! After all that, I just learned to get there EARLY and make sure I am given a double bed room BEFORE I go to the room!!:dazed

I will still go back to AS again. For the price you just can't beat it. The bus pick up is quick, and I like the food court. The game rooms are nice for the kids. Besides those 2 somewhat minor problems, we had a wonderful time!!! :)
